you said that PS2 emulation and Wii-emulators are supporting dualcores.
Edit: spoiler. But even without this supoort it works.
First Dolphin has dualcore support optionally - you can say "experimental" - so nothing to mention. It work without better.
PS2 Emulation is more demanding because of the architecture... but also here i see no problem.

I just rerun PCS2X(0.9.7.3113 SVN, May 29 2010) emulator and 'Tales of the Abyss' game on single core mode (e.g. set CPU affinity) Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 (2.53Ghz) + Mobile Radeon HD 4650; this emulation configuration can’t obtain full frame rates.

My Intel Core i7-740QM @2.93Ghz Turbo Boost Mode (Solo Mode) wasn't able to obtain full frame rates.

Yep Tales of Abyss is a problem but others run and i think we have to wait a bit since developing is ongoing. There are also Gamecube-games which run slow or are just unplayable while others can be run in 1080p perfectly.

@phoenixkonsole

I google'd PCS2X forums and found this results
1. AMD X2 7750 BE @ 3Ghz + Radeon HD 4850 resulted in God of War obtaing around 45FPS.

2. Intel Core 2 Duo @4.0Ghz(Solo Mode) + Geforce 8800GT almost plays Final Fantasy X at full speed without any speed hacks. Note the clock speed i.e. Core 2 Solo Mode @4.0Ghz overclock.

There's a review on Opteron 165 single or dual core mode, overclocking and PCSX (0.9.5.2)
refer to http://www.ngemu.com/articles.php?action=view&rid=31

----------
I have tried "Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2" on P8700 Core Solo mode and it has similar results.

PS; 'Tales of the Abyss' obatins full frame rates in dual core mode btw.

Please check my last post so i know if we talk about the same "multicast".

Aros fit my needs for a embedded system.

USB-initialization= check
Sound IO initialization = check
Lan = check
Wifi = check
Graficsystem = check
IO = check
and so on ... what do i need more during 5 secs? Oh i forgot Ghostscript = check.....

For embedded
- watchdog support.
- APM/APCI
- SMBus
- SNMP
- I2C drivers

For further use (embedded and others)
- IPV6
- IP multicast
- P2POE
- printer
- user management / or at least something to prevent amok running user programs overwriting system files.

For Speed (small servers PCs)
- file system with write cache
- file system with striping mirroring (aka software RAID)
- full USB2.0 (synchronous)
- (AS)MP support
- resource tracking with a bit of memory protection via MMU, crash manager (like Guru, Grimm Reaper, Blue Screen)

Just a small summary of things AROS should have,

@phoenixkonsole

As for OT, you started PS2 emulation sub-thread.

Your game list is not quite PS2’s technical show case games e.g. God of War or Gran Turismo.

Yes, even Core 2 Duo @ 1.6Ghz in dual core mode helps. The issue is AROS(or AOS for that matter) doesn't support SMP.

Realistically, AROS "MacOS X" style kernel update would be required and legacy AOS applications throw into a sandbox.

: D wow now please just say to me:

2x 1.6GHZ is equal to 3.2Ghz single core. No it is not.
First you have overhead between both core, than you have still overhead by Windows itself.
So in other words a Pentium IV@3.4GHZ can run FF even more acceptable.
Ok if we start about CPU you should have a look on the cache to, 512K against 3MB makes a big difference. Bla bla blup OK to make compromise:
PS2 emulation yes - but not perfect(yet). But you can still play around 50 funny games without problem.

As you may already know, APCI is already in the P2P.org's bounty.

Atm, I'm looking at SATA bounty.

"Core 2 Duo" includes it's built-in tech e.g. cache structures included.

I didn't state i386 or IA32.

You can set SATA in compatibility mode, but that breaks most of pre-installed Windows setups (year 2008 and highter mainstream OEM PCs).

@phoenixkonsole

AROS would benefit from:
- Integrated simple to use and SAMBA/CIFS client.
- Shutdown procedure
- Unicode support for filenames, editors etc. (not only for WWW browsers)
- help system ( you can't beat Apple but Maxon's HotHelp would have been a good start)
