@thread

Maybe it's the LimePC Z9, but with a 12" screen?

Specs:

Quote:
CPU: Freescape PowerPC 800Mhz MIPS
Memory: 256Mb DDR II (or 512Mb optional)
Storage: 4Gb (8Gb or 30Gb optional, support up to 32Gb)
Connectivity: WiFi 802.11 b/g, 3G support (optional)
Battery: Lithium-iron, 3400mAh
I/O: 1*RJ45, 2*USB2, 1*SD Reader, 1*VGA Output
Colors: White, Black, Pink, Yellow, Blue, Green
Dimensions: 252mm*172mm*32mm
Weight: 0,9Kg (including battery)

Unfortunately it's a weird site so I cannot give you a direct link, however check for Products -> Information Technology -> LimePC Z9:

http://www.limepc.com/infoTech.shtml

Cheers,
Shufflepuck

Maby it is this one with a bigger screen:

http://www.limepc.com/z9.shtml

If so, 800Mhz, would be okej if it is shiping with 512mb of ram.

@Shufflepuck

Rogue revealed a tiny bit more on Amigans.net. Still leaves a lot to guess open.

OK!
One more house painting job, a few more windows reload jobs, and I'll
have X1000 and a AOS netbook.

@metalmac

He he

Ok, so it'll have 512Mb RAM and 2 USBs, just like the Z9. But Rogue's prototype has both LAN and WiFi, while the Z9 has just WiFi. He wrote he do not know whether both or just one of them will be on the final netbook.

I had an AspireOne with a 10,1 inches screen, too small for my tastes, if this one ends up having a 12" just like the old iBook G4 I used it'll be awesome..

@Shufflepuck
If the choice has to be made between wireless and wired I hope the outcome will be wireless.

Now, for the moment a little quote on the CPU speed would be appreciated.

@Shufflepuck

Surely this would be classed as new hardware as you are having to build a new netbook, yes motherboard will be same but new casing would have to be built taking time and money.

@1Mouse

I'm no expert but Ssolie mentioned an e300 core, so what about the MPC837x family:

Information on that page is not correct - it is 400 MHz CPU (5121e) that scores roughly 800 DMIPS.

That would be reasonable amount.

So if it's a PowerQUICC II Pro: MPC8313E, MPC8314E or MPC8315E. But they all runs at 400Mhz.. Or the MPC5121e, which has a PowerVR GPU, but it's still a 400Mhz SoC. AFAIK the MPC5121e powers the LimePC Z9..

Intrigued

Well, 400mhz its not that cool of course (i.e. no normal web-brosing, no normal video playing).. But its just 300$ , and so, its very helpfull for developers expectually. While they not at home, they still can do their code.

@Shufflepuck

Is that available in a configuration with 12" display?

@kas1e

Maybe it's based on the e300c4 core variant, that can go up to 800Mhz?

http://cache.freescale.com/files/32bit/doc/ref_manual/e300coreRM.pdf

If memory serves me well the old e300c0 powered the Efika 5200B.

@Shufflepuck

Yes correct, checked the specifications, too bad they did not design it as nettbook whit a bit more ram, a lot more people here would have been more interested.

@NutsAboutAmiga

512mb imho not that bad. I have 1gb on peg2, and never-ever have any "not enough memory" problems. Through maybe on 512 will

for me is very good, I'll definitely buy one BUT it must have wireless (and possibly ethernet); a netbook without wireless make no sense.

I'll sureley get one.

I have 512mb in my A1G4XE and thats totally enough for my everyday use. Less then that would be less enjoyable specially with memoryhungry webbrowsers etc.

@Kicko

Pure speculation, but... if this netbook hits the market at, say, $400 and sell pretty well. Then my guess would be that some talented developers getting one would be keen to proof that there's enough 'oomph' in the little machines. No matter what, I'll be tempted to get one.
