Trevor is busy co-writing a book right now so maybe that’s the delay. BigD could start his own blog about Trevors blog I guess. Or BigD could start a blog about how he might theoretically in a parallel universe buy an NG machine. He could updated it daily or even better hourly. Updates every millisecond would be even better.

@kolla

He can try MorphOS for free on hardware he already owns but there's always an excuse forthcoming.

There are no sensibly priced NG machine on the market right now. A-EON, please release the A1222 Plus at a decent price and I'll consider it. It looks like my mate might be gifting me an A1200 so an Apollo Raptor accelerator might be my next purchase. Good luck Trevor and I'm looking forward to the book with David Pleasance (which I HAVE bought for the record)

P.S. As previously stated if the A1222 Plus is nowhere near release then what can he blog about?
When it's done!!

@BigD

Your blog could be about picking daisies one by one until the A1222 comes out. If that gets too easy or boring you could blog about picking individual blades of grass until it looks like a fresh mow. Another idea, shoot a video of the ants raiding your kitchen sink after an unfinished bowl of ice cream is left on the counter. You could also blog about changing a tire or loosing that last 5 pounds of belly fart I mean fat.

@DiscreetFX

We currently have ants raiding our office at work. The same thing happened last year when I had the whole room to myself while the rest of my colleaques were either furloughed or working from home.

This is actually impossible, since any price considered reasonable (in comparison to similar non-Amiga hardware) is far less than what it would cost to build the system. Example: a Pi 400 is roughly equivalent and currently sells for about £67.

Maybe I should have said relatively cheap rather than reasonable. The price/performance ratio will be higher than the Vampire but A-EON will need to recoup 7 years of protracted development! Plus they might not be able to use the AmigaOne OR AmigaOS branded bundled software if what TripOS says is true which is a major setback for release!

BigD could do a blog about his conversion to atheism.

@A1200

He's going to buy an Amiga NG machine(which will NEVER happen), still complain about Amiga OS4.1(which will happen), before he ever is converting to Atheism.

Ha, ha! This close to Easter with the weight of overwhelming evidence that Jesus defeated death after dying for our sins, rising from the dead (all other 'prophets'/nice religious chaps remain dead), appearing to the disciples and forgiving Peter for denying him over a fish breakfast and then miraculously ascending to heaven?

My denial is definitely not going to happen (learn from Peter) and anyway why would I aspire to be a grumpy old man like Richard Dawkins in later life? Trying to disprove the existance of God does not bring happiness as far as I can see.

While we are on the subject:

Happy Ascension Day!

... thank you for reminding me

In regards to AmiganNG; it's a mute point as there are no machines to buy and the Classic market is heating up! Raptor accelerators, Warp 1260s, ZZ9000 graphics cards and stand alone Vampires! This is fun IMHO!

You presumably have not made it your life's work to disprove God's existance like Richard Dawkins has. I'm sure apathy in regards to the proof available and a cocksure atheistic arrogance can maskerade as happiness, however it means nothing if you're proved wrong on judgement day and it then becomes clear that you should have spent more time investigating who Jesus was beyond a casual Google search! It's your life however...

You can threaten me as much as you want, I won't be bullied by your fear-mongering of "eternal damnation"...

To get some perspective: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_Gods

Even "believers" disagree

PS. Maybe we should take this discussion somewhere else, even around a virtual beer

The 'great commission' is to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. It does not include debating with people who have already made up their mind and have no interest in what actually happened or who Jesus was. Jesus claimed to be the Messiah (fact), he is therefore either God on earth in which case we are forgiven and are reconcilled to God if we trust in Him and are repentant (good news), or a madman (why do we remember him?) or he is the anti-Christ (bad news, he probably lied and wants the worst for us). Read up about it and decide which one you think he is and live with the consequences. He cannot simply be a 'good man' whom we can learn a few choice anecdotes from.

Anyway, this thread awaits the return of the Amiga-messiah Trevor D and his blog to reassure the AmigaNG faithful

Considering that the Vikings were notorious for mass piracy, raiding, wanton killing, and enslavement that's a curious argument to take up.

Indeed, it was the advent of Christianity that put an end to the Viking practice of taking slaves, just as the advent of Christianity put an end to a lot of pagan practices that people pretend don't exist. Those gladiator combats didn't end themselves.

But, sure, go ahead and conflate issues without regard to context or even facts.

Trust me I've read a lot about my ancestors.

"Vikings were notorious for mass piracy, raiding, wanton killing, and enslavement that's a curious argument to take up"

Reallly, a curious argument?

The Christians have slaughtered, murder, raided, killed , enslaved a bit too, don't you agree?

Look at the world you are living in!

THE REAL EDIT: I compare it to Hitler, coming to your land and trying to shove your
propaganda down your throat! if not, bullet in your head. Genocide simple and clear.

Then you should not pretend they were innocent people who sat around living peaceful lives and minding their own business, waiting to be slaughtered by genocidal, bloodthirsty Christians, since the most charitable way to describe your argument is as a distortion of the truth, while the more accurate description is sheer and knowing mendacity.

Even the Vikings' conversion to Christianity was far different from "convert or die", as that Wikipedia page I linked makes clear.

Many Christians have done evil things; I don't deny it. If you could convince me that those things weren't done also by other people, then I might be impressed by the fact that many Christians have done evil things. But you can't do that. The general state of humans in nature has been one of tribal conflict, frequently murderous and genocidal.

Whereas Christianity motivated people to end gladiator combats, end the Germanic practice of forcibly taking a woman to become a wife, end slavery first among themselves, then in international trade, establish hospitals and schools to serve the poor, invent systems of finance to end usury, ... Even today, in an age when materialism and consumerism have poisoned many Christians, you'll find quite a few giving their lives and their fortunes to serve others, willingly moving down in society to live in the same conditions.

Even were Christianity a false religion, the world would be much poorer without it, which is why many unbelievers respect it -- atheists included.
