The problem seems to be hardware or firmware related. My sound worked out of the box with the AmigaOS as installed by Acube and using the onboard video.I have since changed things up by re doing the OS install and adding a video card and the audio is still ok.

| I install my Sam460ex Lite yesterday. I have the newest UBoot and SM502-Driver installed.
I noticed a litte "crackle" in Tunenet but after changing the Mixing-Frequency to 48000 Hz in Tunenet-Prefs it sounds clear to me. So in my eyes the difference of the Mixing-Frequency (44100 Hz vs 48000 Hz) seem to cause this.

| @fingus Audio is already set at 48000 here by default.
What is "funny" is that before I ordered my Sam460 and I was worried of having this problem everyone told me not to worry and its very rare.
Not to worry my ass.

Are you using a videocard, or onboard VGA?
Thanks! _________________

| @graffias79 Thanks...
I have spent all morning playing around with settings, but to no luck. I have two different drivers:
1. I get audio crackling (the same that comes with 4.1u5)
2. No crackling but audio is slow/low pitch
Are there any other versions?

Your symptoms are identical to mine. *Exactly* the same. So, welcome to the SAM460 club. This is interesting, cos I'm using a Radeon card and I thought the problems might be because I wasn't using the oboard graphics.
I think the best bet is to find a single-lane PCIe card that has drivers...
It's hard to explain how much not having working sound detracts from the computer experience. My 460 is barely used now cos of this problem, which is sad. If there's no way to get decent sound (and spending 100quid on a PCI card is, shockingly, an OK solution for me) then it will go on eBay soon.

Well if they can't fix it, mine is going back to Acube to be honest. _________________

Send an email to Acube, tell them that you have the same problems like me (Conrad Fenech) and that you find this inacceptable, especially when other people do not have this problem. This was problem was not mentioned on their site. They should either fix it (and pretty soon) or cough up a refund/offer to replace a motherboard.
What really annoys me is that prior to placing my order, I *specifically* instructed Acube to make sure that my board does *NOT* have this problem, and they did exactly the otherway round.....
PS. Acube have an annoying habit of ignoring emails, so if you don't get a reply within two days, feel free to send again, and again... Last edited by Everblue on 27-Dec-2012 at 03:23 PM.

can you both send me your email address via PM ? I need some testers to help track down the problem with the slow playback.

Probably not very useful info for you but...
I had exactly the same problem with my SAM440-flex in the beginning. A crackling and slower sound, very annoying. In the same time I was trying to build a case for my SAM, as small as possible. I used a 180W PSU from a small Dell desktop PC. Result - a crackling sound. Then I bought a 120W PicoPSU and the sound was even worse because it was crackling and slow! I have solved the problem with SoundBlaster Live!. Then my PicoPSU suddenly died and I bought a standard 350W PSU. I disconected SB Live! and tried the onboard sound. The crackling and slow sound disappeared! With this big PSU the sound was clean. After some time ACube released a new sound driver and I tried it with smaller PSUs. Everything was OK...
Good luck

Try a more powerful PSU as mr2 suggests. Try to run the system with better airflow.
And: Make sure you use the right memory as suggested by ACube: 667/800 MHz and CL 6 (Cas Latency). Both are mentioned in version 1.3 of the user manual. Last edited by duga on 27-Dec-2012 at 06:37 PM.

My system was supplied by Acube, I doubt it is not up to spec ;)
We are currently M3x to get the drivers fixed. _________________

Good.
So, is the memory 667 or 800 MHz and CL 6? |

You should be able to find that out if you look at the memory module. |

Good luck! The Sam460EX is a wonderful product, and I'm sure the driver issue will be resolved in the future. |
