Thanks. Good to get such a detailed progress report. I'll wait patiently a little longer for Warp3D.

@mbrantley

I no longer have patience for the Indivision AGA MK II drivers/core. Biggest waste of cash since the great depression. Seven months and it still nothing promising. Hardware without proper software is pretty much useless. Perhaps the new year will bring better tidings.. Bring on the ScanJuggler XAGA!!

@klx300r

Will Timberwolf really benefit from this Warp 3D? I thought only graphics apps and games would be better with this Warp3D.

@Spectre660

that was a really good news, and a news instead of silence...
I think than much more communication from os4 devs and community will be only good :)

Go on that way! :D

Good to know, I wonder which version of Libre Office they are using as the base line.

I believe you are right. I don't think there's presently any interest or sense in extending Warp3D beyond it's current role as a lightweight 3D API for legacy games and current MiniGL applications.

As far as I understand it, it's just a stopgap measure until Gallium is completed for those of you with RadeonHD hardware that can't play any existing 3D titles (well, Wazp3D works reasonably well for some).

Nice
It is 2/3 done

But only when Zbuffer will works it will begin to works better than Wazp3D -> Compositing
Only Zbuffer will allow true 3D apps*
( as CompositeTags() is already a simili DrawArray() function )

>The vertex shader [...] do some processing
Explanation : it will convert data formats for the chip (not a geometric transformation)

>"The DrawArray drawing call is implemented and the other drawing calls should be easy to add since they are mostly just variations of that"
True

Alain Thellier - Wazp3D

* Only some rare 3D apps were designed to NOT use a Zbuffer so works without it (FPSE on Wazp3D/Os4)

One thing I have been wondering, why develop Warp3D drivers in 2012 (and soon 2013)? As it's officially deprecated since ages ago.

Sure, I understand that (full) OpenGL drivers take ages to develop, and software rendering is slow, but how does Warp3D fit in all this?

Sure, there's MiniGL (partial OpenGL implementation wrapper for Warp3D) but can't help wondering, if it would make more sense to develop new "minigl" without Warp3D dependency behind?

I might be wrong, but I don't think there are too many programs that 1)Use Warp3D directly and 2)Are compatible with OS4 and 3)No "OpenGL-equivalent" available.

Not sure if binary compatibility with minigl programs would be harder to maintain (never looked at the headers)

@Jupp3

MiniGL can´t work without Warp3D drivers.

Sure, when OS4.2 is released, Warp3D can be replaced by Gallium3D for Radeon HD cards. But until then, Warp3D is necessary.

@Jupp3

Wazp3D made me able to run apps/demos/games that requires warp3D normally.
Warp3D will make it more playable games that need more power like Quake2/3.

I think Blender will have use of warp3D too.
