Not suitable for AmigaOS, at least today.
I would rather see port to real desktop architecture (eg. "x86"), than ARM. Until then, it is better to stay on PowerPC. |

PowerPC is also not a real desktop architecture, so I fail to see a point. Most high-end ARM SoCs today are faster than PA6T or P5020/5040, and they include pretty powerful graphics in the package. With added 64 bit support and PCIe I think an ARM Amiga would make for nice hobby machine_________________

| Why focus on the negatives.
We now firmly know what we got coming in the future and what AEON is investing resources on.
Should be the baseline of discussion imho.

It is AmigaOS compatible - that is major point.

Again, x86 would be much better choice. |

A-Eon's presentation (at least the bullet-pointed summary, haven't watched the full stream yet) had plenty of meat on the bone.
The P3041/5020/5040 board should form the basis of A-Eon hardware production for a long time, which can only be good for hardware stability and support (vs creating 3 entirely different boards) as well as minimising design costs. The long-term support status on the P5xxx lends itself to a good hardware design that will be available in repeat runs for many years.
I have to congratulate Trevor on this design, it seems much better planned than the Nemo project with regard to future production runs and availability. Of course, 10 year availability (stated by Freescale) doesn't mean low prices guaranteed for 10 years, but still...
Price is still going to be an issue, so let's not anticipate on that score and wait for more details.
All in all, it seems that the future is bright for A-Eon. I hope that Trevor's hard work and dedication pays off in sales, and that Hyperion can manage to pull their own weight wrt OS development.
If it's a good platform with viable customer base and good support, it may also interest MorphOS team - some members have expressed a desire to be able to offer MorphOS with new hardware (ie the SAM460 project). _________________ Troll - n., A disenfranchised former potential customer who remains interested enough to stay informed and express critical opinions. opp., the vast majority who voted silently with their feet. |

| The biggest new I thought out of this is really the long term commitment and the
investment. Thanks for your continued support to the Amiga market, both A-EON and Amigakit. _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |

| @Overflow I am really impressed. About the appstore i need to get in touch with them because i am sure i have something better in the pipeline and we should work together.

I would prefer a clea AmigaOS Appstore instead of joining all things. A clear line should be a better concept. AmigaOne Hardware, AmigaOS + Appstore is not bad.
For the webstore it also depends on the money wich developers should pay. For such a small market your 25 percent are too high.. we working month on our projects and must spend 25 percent... not a good idea. We will see what is trevors plan.
i would prefer a fair little fee for uploading in the store but if it is to high, then we have amiboing.de since years for our stuff. _________________ www.amiboing.de - www.entwickler-x.de |

I sort of agree with the clear division of Amiga "platforms", but if you look at Steam, they include both Linux and Wintel software.
Would maybe require platform based clients that presents default OS at loadup, but will allow you to browse cross platform if you activly search for it.
Just my 2 cents. |

yes, but steam has 100 millon users. We have limited ressources (money and sparetime).... i would prefer a focus to one thing ;) But thats also my two cents... _________________ www.amiboing.de - www.entwickler-x.de |
