By Amigan logic that they used same colored footer means that it's peformance is out of charts.

@AmigaBlitter

A completely useless graph without context!

The Cell was around in 2006, was it therefore not able to provide 'acceleration' until 2009? Plus the Cell component isn't even visible on the graph!

@AmigaBlitter

The Cell is a dead issue, IBM was only willing to discuss selling it to "qualified" partners when it was available, they produced a second generation that was more powerful (and used conventional memory), and now neither cpu is produced.

The only Power derivatives IBM is interested in promoting are Power 8 and 9.

"Supercomputing

IBM's supercomputer, IBM Roadrunner, is a hybrid of General Purpose CISC Opteron as well as Cell processors. This system assumed the #1 spot on the June 2008 Top 500 list as the first supercomputer to run at petaFLOPS speeds, having gained a sustained 1.026 petaFLOPS speed using the standard Linpack benchmark. IBM Roadrunner uses the PowerXCell 8i version of the Cell processor, manufactured using 65 nm technology and enhanced SPUs that can handle double precision calculations in the 128-bit registers, reaching double precision 102 GFLOPs per chip.[49][50]"

@AmigaBlitter

Still expensive (add CPU, RAM and VAT when applicable), but really close to desktop computing territory. I don´t think they will ship this before 2018, but for sure this is interesting hardware for both AmigaOS and MorphOS (what about AmigaOne 6000? ).

@AmigaBlitter

This offer makes selling the X5000 outside Amigaland pretty impossible...

@Zylesea

It is still more expensive (and not yet available). I don´t think A-Eon has many buyers from outside of the Amiga community anyway.

@AmigaBlitter

Power 9 will be about 20 times more faster than a G5 Quad for single core
30 time more faster than P5040
35 time more faster than P5020
...
if will born an Os4 for this cpu will be not usable becaue too much fast :P

@WolfpackN64

I think os4 will load all in the L3 cache of the P9

X5000/20 ram transfer 2GB/s vs P9 ram transfer 256 GB/s
