Hi Mate. I just noticed that WhichAmiga showed CGFX V4 as the actual GraphicsSystem in the RealAmiKit V8 Video you linked.
What does that mean? Can we run Cyber Graphics V4 compatible Software in at least 256 colors or even more?
Regards and a big TANK YOU to all developers and testers behind this great project
Can't wait to have my VampireV2 in my Hands (I mean in my A600)

MMU helps to have faster gfx drivers for Shapeshifter. _________________ AmiParty Team Member Chelm, Poland |

I know, I am just saying, the Vampire2 does not have a "real" 68k CPU. The apollo core seems to present itself as a 68040 of some sort these days, but from previous discussions it was clear that Gunnar had no intentions of implementing a 68040 compatible MMU. If that is still true, then any attempt to use the MMU using existing software will not work.
(WTF just happened to "indentation" here? @Novacoder - fix your quoting! haha) Last edited by kolla on 21-Dec-2015 at 03:40 AM. Last edited by kolla on 21-Dec-2015 at 03:39 AM. | There is Amiga-AGA-EVD driver for shapeshifter that does good speed (not RTG but not much worse either). It uses Fast ram to speed up screen drawing. With fast CPU and memory (and if there is ECS version) it could run nicely.
Mac OS 9 is problematic as it came bundled with specific Macs (68k and PPC) and can cause issues on others but I think that you need full 040 for it.
Most 68k software was made to work with System 7.5.3 and you can download it for free from Apple now and MMU 040 or even FPU are not a must to have.Apple had a lot of models.

MacOS 9 requires PowerPC. MacOS 8.1 was the last running on 68k. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

And it will see much more usage as people get their hands on these FPGA boards.
I really enjoy these youtube demostrations, and it would be kinda intresting if democoders would take intrest in them since they are cheapish. |

He knows his Mac history, unfortunately this is dangerous as that's how we check if someone is a witch here in Norway. I'm not sure if they still burn witches in his home town, though. Don't think we've burned any in my village for at least 4 weeks now. So, mildly safe? _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Yeah, it shouldn't report as a 68040 with MMU. That's just gonna cause confusion. _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). | I used MacOS on Amiga quite a lot back in the days, as you know NTNU had quite a lot of software for free for that platform :) _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Ahm... I suggest you join #MorphOS on Freenode IRC and ask for MorphOS on 68k, say hello from me _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

No, that seems really unlikely. OS4 may have started with a 68K variant, but MorphOS was always intended for an alternate ISA.
Even a 68K (or an FPGA recreation) with some improvements is still inadequate for most MorphOS software. And many MorphOS developers no longer even own 68K hardware.
OS4 for 68K might make more sense, as that OS was designed as a continuation of the existing path (OS 3.1-3.9). MorphOS was designed to replace that (jumping from OS 3.1 straight to MorphOS). |
