14. Nov. 2018 Further warnings regarding AmigaOS 3.1.4 As the author of the Amiga Documents report on Twitter announces , it has been reported to him from "reliable sources" that not only the two e-commerce service providers Avangate and Digital River warnings ("Cease and Desist") of Amiga Inc., Itec and Amino but also the two Amiga dealers "Amiga on the Lake" and Alinea. The mentioned dealers were the only ones who after the quarrels about the distribution of the digital version had included the "anaologe" edition with floppy disks and actual ROMs in their offer.
This is consistent with statements from our own sources that we asked for confirmation of the allegation. Unsurprisingly, the Amiga parties apparently try to prevent any distribution of AmigaOS 3.1.4, which in their view represents a violation of their rights . Individual customers of the German dealer Alinea have already received the ROMs and floppy disks, whether the delivery has been stopped in the meantime, is currently unknown - some customers report (again) e-mail notifications that the product will be available again in a few days. Great, some clarification. No one should be buying or stocking this stuff until Hyperion, Cloanto, Amino, Itec or the new rebranded 'Amiga-dink 2018 Inc.' shell company for tax free Bahama incorporated Amiga branded fake dog poo related tax haven activities etc stop fighting!
None of them deserve ANY of our money and Thomas Richter and chums can continue with their day jobs rather than get involved with pointless development that no one asked for next time they get a phone call from Ben Hermans. For all the legal fire storm nonsense I'm more than happy to continue to use OS3.9 and throw all these squabbling Amiga companies out the nearest proverbial airlock. Are they trying to compete with Brexit for long winded time wasting madness? Life's too short OS3.1.4 is too underwhelming a concept to care and this has probably screwed up the Tabor launch once and truly. Time for a time out from AmigaWorld I think. I probably should have vierwed the site being hacked as a sign.

ThoR and Olsen could have released "Patch 3.1.4" for Amiga OS 3.1, however Hyperion decided to include a full OS installation and overwrote ROM copyrights, etc... and called it "Amiga OS" without paying any licensing fees to Amiga, Inc. This is the core issue at hand. They poked a sleeping bear. On top of that they are registering marks clearly owned by Cloanto.
Never been a fan of Amiga, Inc, et al.., but Hyperion is just plain dumb. It looks like 4 on 1: AInc, Amino, Itec and Cloanto vs Hyperion. In this case, I am not rooting for the underdog, because in this case - said dog in question seems rabid. |

BigD you are talking about things you not know...
Thomas and Olsen are only interested in "classic" and not interested or involved in PPC development. So the work on 3.1.4 could not delay Tabor...
And if "classic" as a concept is underwhelming or not is irrelevant, there are people outside willing to pay for it and I assume they can do more money there than with all current PPC developments. Otherwise Hyperion would not have taken so high risks... |

Because they don´t need to by virtue of the 2009 Settlement Agreement - at least in Hyperion´s POV.

Hard to judge, who is underdog in this case. Looking at the fillings of the "Amiga parties", I find some of their arguments rather amusing (to put it charitably). |

Given how things have worked out in the past, they may have poked nothing more than a sleeping corpse.
I'm not a fan of Hyperion, but they've shown themselves able to work the system in the past. With Olsen only being interested in "classic", how will OS4 components like Roadshow be maintained? _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

Thomas and Olsen's work will inadvertently delay or even lead to the cancellation of the Tabor by potentially making Hyperion's 2009 settlement null and void. If that happens thanks to OS3.1.4 stepping on everyone else's IP and trademarks, then these developers WILL be part of the Tabor's continued problems by neutering Hyperion's ability to license even OS4.1 FE! That is a real possibility and I don't think A-EON or AmigaKit think OS3.1.4 was a risk worth taking. If Hyperion lose against the Amiga parties then I expect A-EON to sue them too for lost earnings and needlessly hampering their joint venture selling OS4.X hardware.
There's no knowing where this will all end but if you're only interest is messing around with 68k source code then I guess OS3.1.4 is of interest and your probably hoping everyone goes bankrupt and all sources are leaked! That is the one thing that is not going to happen. Last edited by BigD on 15-Nov-2018 at 05:51 PM.

Roadshow is a commercial product, which means someone charges money for it.
So obviously money comes from the end users, through resellers back to the copyright or product owner. Simple as that. |

Only the 68k version is a commercial product, for OS4 it is included and there has been no updates for a very long time. I asked him if one can use 68k version with OS4, but he advised strongly against that.
So it seems to me that OS4, Hyperion's flagship so to speak, lacks core developers. Last edited by kolla on 15-Nov-2018 at 08:48 PM.

I would be totally unsurprised if it turns out that AEON/AmigaKit are the ones who fuel the "amiga parties" side with money, in order to simply get rid of their biggest obstacle for any continued OS development, Hyperion. With 2009 settlements void, AEON can be granted the rights instead, and happy happy lalala... rinse and repeat. _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

AmigaOS 4 is a commercial product too. If Roadshow is part of it, then I would assume it is part of that commercial offer and the developer should be given money from AmigaOS 4 sales.
