I haven't been able to get 16.04 Mate to bootfrom a DVD-R, so I'll look into that alternative. Although I'm baffled at my problem with Mate as all my hardware is still genuine Apple, even the video card. |

use rufus tool under windows and write iso on usb stick, than you can boot from openfirmware on usb. Yeah many guys thought it was not possibile I know.. On the web there are a lot of guides about it. If you need help tell us.. Instead to boot from a dvd on mac os you have to press and hold "c" key at startup. _________________ Pegasos II G4@1GHz 2GB Radeon 9250 256MB AmigaOS4.1 fe - MorphOS - Debian 9 Jessie |

I know about holding down the "c" key, after all how do you think I've installed MorphOS in the past? Maybe I just haven't burned the ISO correctly.

My command line (for 4.0.50 version)
qemu-system-ppc -machine sam460ex -m 1024 -rtc base=localtime -drive id=hd,file=amigaos4_hdd.img -device ide-hd,drive=hd,bus=ide.0 -device rtl8139,netdev=mynet0 -netdev user,id=mynet0 -display sdl
Network is working.
Audio not working with ES1370, hence I'm still figuring it out .
It took me few hours to install AmigaOS 4.1 FE (already paid for OS) and re-learn my AmigaOS skills and bridge the knowledge gap between classic Amiga machines to virtual Sam460.
Running qemu-system-ppc on Intel Core i7-7820X. Last edited by Hammer on 25-Jun-2019 at 11:13 AM.

Strange that it was need hours for install it on your pc i7, i dont think a thread of it is much much slower than one thread of my 1950x where it install in about 20 minute. i have suspect that the qemu 4.0.x is much slower than older versions. my amigaos was installed on 3.x version. Can you try to install it there?

I run into install issues with the file system mismatch (workaround guru crash), didn't install RDB(AmigaOne Boot Code) and I'm not familiar with Sam460, hence there's a knowledge gap between what I know with classic Amiga system to emulated Sam460.
I'm used to Windows XP/7/8/10 and AmigaForever easy installs i.e. I have an empty HDD and install the OS process.
The machine is fine, the problem is between the keyboard and the monitor.

Me too use mate 16.04 ppc 32/64bit on G5 quad. |
Is there a link to download it?
Are 32bit and 64bit versions included on the same iso?
Would love to try it on my quad._________________ Peg1, Peg2, Efika, Amiga 500, Amiga 1230, Amiga 4000PPC, Sam 440EP, AmigaOne XE, MacMini PPC, PowerMac G4, G5 |

I've been trying lately with AmigaOS to run this and ran into a problem that is preventing it from launching:
ERROR:/home/stefan/src/qemu/repo.or.cz/qemu/ar7/hw/char/serial.c:342:serial_ioport_write: assertion failed: (addr < 8) error
While googling for an answer, I saw that Hammer's response originally mentioned this but it has been edited out.
Is there a workaround for this?

Looking like "-serial none" suppresses that but now i'm never seeing the window get past the initial message that the guest has not initialized display yet (this is the latest version)
EDIT: Had to wait 4 minutes from start until it finally started going. Guess it is time for an upgrade to the host system.
EDIT: keep getting a crash on harddrive install. Made an image using qemu-image create command to make 2GB partition, used HDToolbox to install SLB and configure and create partitions and set to bootable. After soft reset, click install and then take defaults.
Crash is in Background CLI (DSI crash). Can't seem to get past that.

check the dates on the list of files. They should show releases going back a long way. |

Thanks. I hope we can some day run os4 software at a faster speed. Maybe multi core processors will help. _________________ John 3:16 |

Technically my X1000 has a multicore processor. But it doesn't help OS4 go any faster! |

| no matter how much cores host has, it wont improve emulation of a system that cannot take advantage of multiple cores, i fear. same issue as with uae.

Qemu uses MTTCG and it should be useful also on single core guest emultaed systems like AmigaOS.
