@clusteruk

How wide motherboards will physically fit?

I have a nice CP/M Z80 board laying around without a case. Being 188 mm x 368 mm it may be a bit too wide?

It could go together with a RPi (acting as the terminal emulator), attach two 5.25 floppy drives making a nice CP/M box. With the RPi running RetroPie it would additionally give lots of emulation possibilities in the same box.

@BigD

This is us, It wouldn't be an Amiga project without the drama.
Fingers crossed for a good result.

Cheers

Being realistic for a second, whilst there has been a nice upsurge in support for the Checkmate A1500 over the last week, the project is still unlikely to reach its goal without a bit more of a push.

As it stands right now, we've got approximately £12,000 to raise in 52 hours. Just doing the maths, that means around 76 more cases need to be pre-ordered. We haven't seen that level of activity since the first couple of days of the campaign.

However, all is not lost, if the existing supporters can help close the gap. How you choose to do so is up to you (and as Stephen has repeatedly said, only pay what you can afford to). Considering that the project already has 348 backers, an extra donation of £30 or so by most backers is likely to close the gap (not fully fund the campaign, but change the likelihood of success from slim to very likely). I increased my pledge today to do my part, I hope you will join me.

Aside from this, I reactivated my AW.net account after a 6 year absence just to put forward this idea about getting this Kickstarter over the line. Whilst in hindsight I wish the campaign was started on Indiegogo (which offers more flexibility in campaign structures than Kickstarter, and could've easily been extended), I strongly support what Stephen Jones is doing, and admire both his vision and tenacity. Quite frankly the amount of money and effort that it would've taken to get the project to this stage is huge, and that kind of dedication is deserving of our support.

In some ways (money raised, visibility), the Checkmate A1500 Kickstarter has already become one of the most successful crowdfunding campaigns the Amiga community has ever had. Let's now use these final hours to finish the job and give the next generation of Amiga computers a case that respects their heritage and gives them room to grow.

@HenryCase

Your idea is a good one! :) - I already backed a second case and I'll give another 30 bucks tomorrow after work if not much changes on the kickstarter-site coz I really want this campaign to be a success. :).

Fingers crossed.

Tonight's stream in under an hour may have a special guest if Internet connect does not cause issue. If not join me alone to get us over the end as we are around £66,000 at the moment.

@HenryCase and All

Thanks for the support here, we are getting very close now and it was always a big ask but the Amiga community has always amazed me in the past and even more so now.

@KimmoK

Could somebody add short news item to slashdot.org as they allow registered users to send to news feed. I guess there would come last couple of $$$ as there would be lots of old amiga users.
