It is not the same feeling as with an accelerated Amiga! Yes, the graphics are great (although Banshee is in a different league to Raptor IMHO) but the sound still isn't comparable to Paula and most people just had a bleeper in 1992/1993. DOS is an abomination compared to Workbench! |
PC VGA has Tyrian and it was later ported to the Amiga. For Retro UI, this is why I prefer AmigaOS over MS-DOS. I rather load up Amiga's multi-GB micro-SD with retro games compared to rebuilding my Pentium II PC with MS-DOS and Windows 98.
A1200 with PiStorm32-Emu68 can run PC Task 4's DOS Lotus 3 racing with smooth frame rates i.e. there's very little need for a PC 386/486 mini-tower.
Atleast AmigaOS 3.x.x is being updated when compared to abandoned Windows 98. Thanks to Hyperion for AmigaOS 3.2.x. I'm waiting for Amikit PiStorm.
With Paula, I don't have to deal with Sound Blaster settings and startup conflicts.
A1200 is almost like a laptop without a built-in screen i.e. it's semi-portable smallish size. A1200 with PiStorm32 covers both retro Amiga and Mac 68K. Raspberry Pi 400 has "no retro character" and it's too slow for Genshin Impact (Unity 3D) level games i.e. my laptop can handle it with ease.
My gaming PCs deal with current-gen games, video editing, Blender (PC-G02), Unreal Engine 5 (PC-G02), Unity (PC-G01), music editing, and Visual Studio. Both my gaming PCs (Phanteks Eclipse P500A) and A1200 are in the white color theme i.e. my house's interior is mostly white theme via Japanese white-black style.
---- The "most people" argument doesn't work with the PC when the minority gaming PC's install base is larger than the entire Amiga install base.
PC market's attachment rates can be low, but PC's very large size is more than enough for id Software's 4 million unit sales for PC's 1993 Doom and 1994 Doom II.
Up to 20 million people are estimated to have played it within two years of launch, and in late 1995, it was estimated to be installed on more computers worldwide than Microsoft's then-new operating system, Windows 95. - Wikipedia
20 million Doom-capable 32-bit PCs install base crushed Amiga's 32-bit install base.

And that includes the new RTG fix with the HUD? I can see the new files Karlos linked to on GitHub but can't see how to download them. Last edited by BigD on 26-Jul-2023 at 07:16 PM.

You click on the one you want and it will download it. These are just the engine binaries so you'll need to put them in either the same location in your most recent download of the mod, or wherever your regular TKG lives.
You'll need to set the execute bit too, probably. You can do thst vis amigados protect command or by showing the icon properties in workbench. _________________ Doing stupid things for fun... |

| If you want to always have the latest versions, the best option is to install a git client and just git clone the repository directly onto the machine. This will allow you to pull changes, test branches etc.
Is there a functional git client for AmigaOS 3.x these days? Last edited by Karlos on 26-Jul-2023 at 08:04 PM.

I added "ab3" assignment with CoffeineOS 922's distro's TKG startup script._________________ Amiga 1200 (rev 1D1, KS 3.2, PiStorm32/RPi CM4/Emu68) Amiga 500 (rev 6A, ECS, KS 3.2, PiStorm/RPi 4B/Emu68) Ryzen 9 7950X, DDR5-6000 64 GB RAM, GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB |

MorphOS has support for real GIT, so perhaps not much interest over there.
I tried SGIT once, but did not feel safe using it, did want trash my repo, or my local files. SGIT does not use same arguments as standard GIT, and does not support everything. Perhaps that’s way it’s called “Simple”.
Not so sure it’s easy to compile for 68k amigaos3.x, there been lot work on lib libraries to compile a lot of stuff for AmigaOS4.x, was ported over from Linux.

Why do you keep obsessing over an aminet release? Download an LHA from there or a zip from here. What's the difference?
I still have about half the levels left to rework for the mod, new graphics to create, etc.
The engine can go on aminet, but that's ultimately a separate project. Last edited by Karlos on 27-Jul-2023 at 08:25 PM.
