@Mark

Glad you found the bug.
There are a couple of links you might wish to re-evaluate.

At the left side of the AW front page under "Extras" there is a link to "Top Members".
At the bottom right of that page there are two links:

The first one is meant to go to a website describing the "points" system.
It seems to go to a website that sells, amongst other things, cowboy hats.

The second link to read more about Xooops (used on this website), goes to a
page listing links to things like celebrity nudes.

Best Wishes,

How long is a bit? Still seems to be there after 24 hours!

[edit]
I take that back it's gone from the forum listing page but still present
on the thread page. Top is still broken bottom works.

@Mark

Apparently threads with many pages of comments are causing problems (reported
multiple times) with not only Amiga browsers, but PC browsers as well.
Is there any way to make a "second line" for comment page numbers after, let's say,
page 15, in order to shorten the line length?
I see where the third word of a three word thread title about "New hardware"
has been dropped to the second line. Can you not make the line break instead
at the end of page comment (15)?

Best Wishes,

@thread

Regarding post #141, 142, 143, and others mentioned earlier in this thread:
Broadblues was kind enough to send me a fix for the problem.
I sent this through PM to others who have not indicated any harmful "side effects",
so now I post it here:

Everytime you enter "user profile" and make any change whatsoever, the "comments"
reverts back to "none". It just doesn't remember the change you make to it, sorry
to say.
You must reset this each time to "flat" before you save your user profile.

Best Wishes,

@thread

Note:Another visually unappealing problem will occur when switching to "threaded
view" while reading a thread like "New hardware company". Be prepared to use the
horizontal scroll.

I don't know if this was reported before but
in the url line the "link to us" has spaces " " between the words.
You should replace the space with nbsp; to prevent line wrapping of the url.
You correctly use nbsp in all the other multiword links.

Linewrapping currently happens here depending on your font
in small browser window.

Cheers
Gunnar

I found this by accident, clicking on the Amiga Forever, or Amiga Future banners at the top of the page give me this:

Just spotted this ...

http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=15389&forum=4

The quote tag hasn't been closed, and the colour of the text at the bottom of the page is wrong, and makes it transparant (same bkcolour as foreground)

@treblesix

The closing quote tag was right on the end of the URL, it seems the parser that converts the link text to an actual link thought it was part of the url, thus wrecking the layout.

@AW staff

Regarding the problem described in post #168 by @AmigaOneProductions:

Thank you very much for fixing this.
You have all stated before that you don't always respond to the posts in this
thread, but you DO read them.
The fine job you have done proves that point.

We, the AW members don't always respond either, but we notice too. Kudos!

Best Wishes,

@Mark

Attempted an upload in the image section of AW. Image met the requirements stated
in the upload section.
Initially, AWeb reported (in a status window) that submission was taking place.
At the last moment, though, a message indicating "Mime exception" appeared on
the AW upload page.
Since djpeg (OS4depot) recognizes this file just fine, what would cause this
message please?

Edit(added):Successfully uploaded the same jpeg image to another website that
does not use Xoops. What does AW Xoops package use to recognize filetypes?

Best Wishes,

@AmigaOneProductions
This was an issue in some configuration changes and was fixed I believe within an hour or so of the problem happening (and uncovered a few other problems). Keep the reports going though, as there are definitely times when we're not all around.

We've just made some additional changes which will hopefully alleviate some of the sporadic uptimes/reachability we've seen of late, so fingers crossed on that one at least

@wegster

Well, the "New Topic" button at the TOP of each ongoing thread's page still don't
work in AWeb. The bottom one does.

I believe Andy Broad already pinted this out, so, just a reminder

Same problem here, and I'm using IBrowses so it probably isn't a browser issue.

I can't upload my OS4 screenshots, after the upload I get the following error message:

::Errors occured::
File: Z:N1.jpg
==>mimeException

Looking at the dates, it looks like nobody's been able to upload images since September 25th or so.

@AmigAlex

I agree that it is not a browser issue. I noticed the dates too, before I attempted
my upload. Unfortunately, we may be dealing with one of those "cryptic" error
messages that either -may- or -may not- refer exclusively to merely -one- problem.
Until we know whether this is merely a problem, say, concerning allocation of
space for uploaded images, we can not test the other/additional possibilities.

Example:I have a jpg that is considered an "unrecognized filetype" by multiview
and picshow. Yet, the jpeg IS recognized and loads with djpeg from OS4depot.
It also loads in AdPro and probably many other programs. Until we are sure that
image upload is working here at AW, we can not test anything concerning AW file
format recognition.

Edit(Added):Multiview will report on the unknown jpeg variants "Unknown data type for
[filename]".
If Picshow encounters a jpeg variant that it is unfamiliar with AND there are other
jpegs in the same directory that it DOES recognize, Picshow will advance to the next
"recognized" jpeg and display it. If, however the entire directory is loaded with
unrecognized jpegs, a message is shown "No picture in this directory".

Note:@Broadblues has uploaded a new jpg loader for IFX to OS4depot this week that
proves the point that all jpeg formats are -not- recognized by all programs.

I'm getting (I think CSS errors) if u are using them.

If u resize the browser window a bit small, the 'link to us' covers 2 lines and put spaces between the bottom of the boing graphic.

Get the same on Firefox and IE.

@number6

At a guess this is due to the safe mode restrictions being turned on (around that time I believe).

Expanded for those who wish to know:

The safe mode will stop file uploads (sort of), so when passing the "image" to the resize/conversion/checking tool (php in-built functions) it will actually be sending a text error message, which obviously isnt an image, as such the return is not of the required mime type.

I'll have to have a look at this one.

Mark

In addition to the comments made in this thread concerning inability to upload:

Thread of October 19, 2005 Post #1
http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=15623&forum=7
Quote:"i want to upload a grab from my WB, but it doesn`t work.
IBrowse show me after the upload:Error occured: CopyfileException"

Thread of November 2, 2005 Post #23
Here
Quote:"but it's been almost six weeks since the OS4 Image Album has been updated."

The image gallery here does not show any recent uploads that I can see.

In addition, since I indicated in my post in this thread #172 that I was able to upload my file to another website,
I feel this is most likely a problem a local to this site.
Note:The jpeg recognition problem mentioned in post #176 of this thread was "separate" from this issue and has since
been addressed.

Best Wishes,

@Mark

I need to research some things from April-July.
Where are the forum posts from those months?
Link to "forums" at top of AW main page goes to a list of forums.
Click on any of those forums and you should see a numbered page listing in the
lower right. By using those buttons I can not find any listings from April-July.

I discovered this when I "googled" for some info and it linked back to "dead"
AW pages.
