Good thing is that the player routine has been converted to PPC ten years ago, so there shouldn't be much assembler code left anymore?

@amigakit: Indeed. The main challenge now would likely involve optimizing and adapting any remaining assembly for modern hardware capabilities rather than dealing with extensive amounts of it.
