| Does anyone know whether there exist drivers for the Brother HL-1440 on the Amiga? I can print with it via the HL Laserjet driver but it takes quite sometime to print. Any help would be appreciated . |

| hmmm, I have a HL-1250 (PCL6), that takes ages to print with some software... I use either a turboprint hp-lj5 driver or pagestream4 / protexts own hp-lj drivers...
I've never tried the workbench drivers though...
pagestream and protext print really fast, I think your problem is caused by the software your printing from taking a long time to actually create the page to dump to the printer...
Wordworth / amigawriter / finalwriter etc. are all really slow _________________ OS4 Rocks X1000 beta tester, Sam440 Flex (733)

Pagestream prints direct to the parallel port, so I presume does protext, hence the speed difference.
I also use Turboprint instead of the workbench printers and when set to output to Turbopar: device is quite acceptable as well.

Thanks mate. In that case we will shortly be purchasing TurboPrint ( we used to use TurboPrint off one of the Coverdisks but that was like v.2). _________________

The issue seems related to document generation speed rather than driver performance. Workbench drivers might not resolve this, as they're designed for different tasks like CAD/CAM work. Ensure the software you’re using efficiently generates printable pages before sending them to your printer. Consider optimizing or updating these applications if possible. |
