I just got a tip about a pixeling program that I haven't heard of before.
And you know what? The source is available. You may do what you want with this information. :)

Oh! And another one!

i.Mage, also open source, available for win/linux

Speaking of paintprograms, I've ported LunaPaint to OS4. It's an DeLuxe Paint clone, but it's slow as hell and has a wied bug that makes the cross leave trails. The trails disappear when the screen is reloaded so they don't stick..

Still if anyone's interessted. Let me know.

Perfect Paint is also a Dpaint clone that, AFAIK is being ported to OS4.

It will be interesting to see which of these Dpaint clones is the best!

I've used this sometimes to do small and quick things, but it does have two problems:
1. it's updated rarely
2. it uses its own custom library to paint and draw widgets etc.

cool thing that you ported it..
to bad that it's slow, sa pixel programs have to be quick, kind of pointless otherwize... :/
but i'd be happy to see how it works on my machine. send a copy to spotATtriadDOTse !

Splash! is my entry into the OS4 dev contest, so you (and everyone else) will find out more 1st hand shortly. I think (hope) people will be pleasantly surprised.

@All

It's good that several Dpaint clones are being ported to OS4. Opinion is clearly divided as to what's the best, but it will be nice to have a few choices- play around and see what's best.

I'm hoping I can continue my Amiga-generated animations when I migrate to OS4. If one of these Dpaint clones doesn't do all I want, I might be able to do different operations in different programs.

AFAIK, Perfect Paint is being ported to OS4. While it was still in development, I spoke to the author, and he added two new features sorely missing. One was the fact that you could only have 999 frames in an animation; you can now choose the maximum number of frames. Another was the fact that you couldn't merge the spare page with the picture or animation: a trick that's useful for dropping in backgrounds or superimposing titles.

Personal paint has the above ability, but you can only merge the spare page with one frame at a time, whereas in Dpaint you can choose how many frames you want to merge the spare page with. If you want to do so with 100 frames, this would be very tedious one by one!

Pixen sounds like a neat program, would cocoa apps be very hard to port to a different platform ?

What about that bounty system, has anyone any more info ?

Aminet -- it's in the biz/cloanto directory.

Yeah, and rumour had it that Cloanto was going to provide an OS4 version to coincide with the release of OS4.

Anyone know if this is still the case? Not a bad default paint package for an obscure OS, heh?
