What a load of twaddle!

Either announce a product or don't - in this tiny market you better keep people informed or you will lose them.

Exactly. Don't jerk people around. People have been waiting for years for this stuff, and are sick of being spoon fed news about delays in little, baby sized bites sprinkled with sugar. It's not the news itself that causes an uproar, it's the airplane sound they are making as they put the spoon to our mouths that ticks people off. If you want us to swallow it, give it to us in one piece and we'll hold our nose and down it whole, but as long as you make that airplane noise while telling us how the strained beets taste like Ice Cream, expect people to sniff the spoon.

So a few might complain about the news. So what? It's not released yet anyway. Their not having complained won't make the stuff appear any quicker, so what's the loss?

(I was going to use the term "Maypo Flavored" but didn't know if that would date me)

Hmmm, "flex ATX"? Suppose my mini-ITX case is now destined for the scrap heap (or Ebay)...

I think the Amy'05 will fit in your mini-ITX case. My Antec Minuet case has 4 PCI slot openings at the back and the single PCI slot on my µA1 lines up with the PCI slot closest to the I/O panel (plate over the keyboard, mouse, network, USB, video, sound, parallel interface connectors). I suspect the Amy'05 will line up with 2 PCI slots.

@Colin_Camper

If you read my whole post, then you will see that it was meant as a response to Coder saying that if companies "come out with info they usually get shot". I just said that there will always be complainers and naysayers, you just gotta live with it.
For the company this group even shouldn't matter. The more info they post on a product and the more honest they are when giving reasons for possible delays, the more credibility they receive.

On the other hand, people get pissed when they get jerked around for years and years with dishonest release dates (see Elbox) only telling half of the whole story or ambigous statements (Troika: 2 production runs in 2005 vs. "no fluffed up news releases").

That's a fact. And indeed we are talking about 100% trolls.

To me that says "before mid-February", so I'm not too worried.

To me that says - maybe yes - maybe never. Too many times in the past have we been led down the '2 more weeks' road.

It's not cynicism - just realism. No-one has seen any demo boards or anything working in public - who knows how close any of these - so fay entirely mythical - boards are?

Yes... and? That's also what I stated. It would have been different if Eyetech would have had a different and more open "information policy".
At present, we can't speak of "information policy" at all. Complete silence.

You are correct but it is very very difficult to get that right - very difficult indeed. With the potential for sales being so small I am not surprised that Eyetech didn't even attempt anything else.

Anyhoo that's all done now. We're highly unlikely to see anymore Amiga Ones from Eyetech (if anyone has cast iron proof otherwise then please post) - there seems little to no chance of getting OS4 on the Pegasos and the other forms of hardware have the slight flaw in that no-one has seen them working or know any firm release dates.

So we're a bit stuffed. Unless you already have an AOne - in that case you are about to get update 4 you lucky people.

You're mixing up the standards.. Your case is for MicroATX and Mini-ITX is
considerably smaller.. FlexATX is between MicroATX and Mini-ITX. If his
case is Mini-ITX a FlexATX board will never fit.

@NutsAboutAmiga and others

It's a bit unfair to chastise people for not buying a board then when we were all told time and time again by Alan that if we were not a developer and didn't want to have to fiddle with problems as they arose that we should wait until OS4 was final and the end user boards were available. How can you now try to criticize someone for not buying then. I think that's a bit childish to say "you should have bought it then". By the way, many did try to buy it then as he stated, but were unsucessful.

@Ikir and others

Well, it wouldn't matter if there were new A1's coming if they hit the dealers at $975 USD again, they won't sell but a precious few. Sorry, but it's that simple. Price yourself out of the market and you see what happens.

They are alive. And I guess when they want to bring out some news they will. And I assume the next time they bring out news is the time they can tell the boards will be for sale.

@ironfist @mavherzog

Does this mean his case is more like the size of the Morex Cubid 3677 case?

If so, his Mini-ITX case is definitely smaller than my Antec Minuet case.

I guess I was getting confused because the Mai Logic hardware user manual calls the (µA1-C) motherboard a Mini-ITX form factor board, whereas my Antec Minuet case is machined to accept several different sizes of motherboards up to MicroATX size (9.6"x9.6") motherboards.

You could do a test and try to order something from them.
They don't even have a telephone number. Order, pay and don't bug them with questions. If you email "Please keep all emails short and to the point.". Or they will be ignored or immediately deleted (like 95% of them).

@Comi

I'll bet Eyetech would come alive if you waved some cash in front of their nose and said give me a thousand boards please!

I think they sizzled out when they knew there were other players and didn't think they could compete with the competition.

I still say their production runs were too small as evidence by all the people who were on back order. I guess they were trying to be too careful.

@nzv58l

There was always a higher demand than supply for AOnes. They were monopolist and had a market with many people paying a fortune for low-specced legacy hardware.
How more can you wish for as a company?
