@samos3.9

I guess that would depend on your perspective.

One thing that pisses me off is they never save the proof. These hackers ( I assume) are supposed to be above average intelligence yet they dont save out ( & burn to cd ~ & hideaway etc) the proof they uncover.

I mean ... He spent TWO YEARS rummaging around the hard drives of government institutions !!

Numpties

Exactly my thoughts. His explanations about the "graphical remote viewer" which prevented him from saving anything to his harddrive sounds extremely dodgy.

Further:
Quote:
But there was one occasion when a network engineer saw me and actually questioned me and we actually talked to each other via WordPad, which was very, very strange.

Yeah, WordPad, the world's most common chat interface.

Quote:
GM: One of these people was a Nasa photographic expert, and she said that in building eight of Johnson Space Centre they regularly airbrushed out images of UFOs from the high-resolution satellite imaging. What she said was there was there: there were folders called "filtered" and "unfiltered", "processed" and "raw", something like that.

So why do these UFOs never show up on commercially available high-resolution satellite imagery (Quickbird, Ikonos, etc.)?
The folders "filtered" and "unfiltered", "processed" and "raw" are not surprising either since they refer to common processing steps after you acquired satellite imagery. Nothing to do with "editing out UFOs".

Watched the interview... he seems an intelligent bloke, what he says about how he hacked in is perfectly plausible and I believe him when he says he didn't cause any damage to the machines...

As to the UFO technology stuff he says he found I'm not so sure... would be nice to believe some of what he says but even apparently intelligent folk aren't immune to to be being delusional.

for a minute there, I thought the guy was going to say that he
found a PPC motherboard, and now he expects Hyperion to
port OS4 to it..
Close Call.

I have hacked in to govt computers and discovered that the Aliens in the UFOs that NASA blanks out took over AInc. The Aliens pay NASA to do the blanking to cover up their illegal commercial activities. Unfortunately my dog pee'd on my laptop and killed my hard-drive so I've got no proof. But, believe me, I saw it all.

Hacking the machines doesn't cause any damage normally and the way he did it, it absolutely would not damage anything unless if he explicitly chose to do so.

The intrusion itself is damage enough, the work thats gonne be done because of it gonna cost alot of money, it will be more then changing passwords it will be a thorough investigation.

If you read his interview, he hacked machines by just looking for ones with a blank administrator password. Now, this means that such an investigation is absolutely needed and the fact that he did this triggered it. Imagine being in a war and having your enemies log into your military computers because some pillocks couldn't be ars3d to set a password.

And because he said he only looked they shouldnt check if he did differently, or check for what information might have been compromised.

No he didnt do them a favour.

Of course I'm not saying that he did them a favour, they have to make absolutely certain of what information was compromised, which is certainly a pretty expensive investigation. Yet, IMHO, it had to happen, if only to make them reinforce their security.

@AMiGR

Leaving the Administrator account password blank is pretty inexcusable - especially in such supposedly secure organisations. By exposing such a gaping hole in their systems he has brought to the fore an issue that should have never arisen.

Remember, what he did say about UFOs - he used the word comical, smart move IMHO.
I beleave some of what he said to be true. Not, necessary about the ufo part, but energy, reverse engineering etc.

The other point was he had 56k a high resolution image can take a few minuits to download but if its a nasa high resolution picture, your talking a very long time to download, considering some of there pictures can be 100`s of meg in size.

Everybody knows regardless of what remote software you use, you can store screen shots he on the other hand was obviously not as smart, intelligent, but not that smart to notice how to take a screen shot using his remote software.
If, on the other hand, there was any image data stored on his personal computer then that early morning, when the authoritys came round to arrest and to sease his comptuer equipment, all data would of either been destroyed by the authoritys or kept as proof for his actions which may later be used in court. But with the obvious images and data removed before going to court. Sounds to far fetched? You wouldnt beleave the hassle some goverments will go to distroy secret information if taken from them.

Mind you -- coming back down to earth, this guy could be some freaked out religious group member trying to claim he found life on mars and Elvis is alive and eating burgers down at Macdonald`s. Well, thats my theory....
