@ExecSG

Depends.. They own the Indian company aswell.. That would probably mean they're
worth alot more than we think.
Amiga Inc with out this company is probably worth less than they bought it for.
This also depending on the court case. Ownership of OS4 would increase their worth also.
IMHO of course

to be honest considering it owns the name Amiga and thats pretty much it in reality, a million dollars at the most. Reunite it with the Patents still held by gateway and in combination with something like A-Clone and OS4 a realistic business opportunity exists for a large corporation with an interest in desktop computing. But in all honesty if I was that company I wouldn't want to be spending more than 2-3 million dollars on aquiring the Amiga name, the patents (and rights to things like Kickstart which may still reside with Gateway) and OS4 before partnering with Individual Computers to get the A-Clone and AA-Clone on the way properly for appropriate markets while still moving OS4 forward (which will require hardware!) with a 64-bit edition being a major priority, and then get it on hardware for the mainstream.

With what we are sure Amiga, Inc actually owns of any value (not much) one million dollars tops.

That would be risky without knowing about their debts and their financial uhm.. "entanglements".

@hatschi

I have to admit if I was a prospective purchaser I would just want the name. Nothing else they *definitely* have is worth anything.

Do this company even have employers? They have afaik not released a single product for years, which kinda suggest to me that it was pretty much dead when amiga inc aquired it.

The name would be nice, as well as any rights/patents they DO have for the classic amiga stuff...

The world of computing would be fun again ;)

At the moment I would say, about £9.99 maybe £10

I believe someone has just bought Wolves football club for that huge sum!

We can do the same!

@ExecSG

Amiga Inc is not worth any thing, hopefully they go bankrupt most sell some thing of value to a company that know what to do (Real hardware or software company)

AmigaOS4 name and logos = 1 000 000 to 128 000 000 Euro because some venture capitalists might pay for it to hype it up resell for a better price.

Then where back to 1997, 10 years for nothing

@NutsAboutAmiga

What a shame!

Think about it, 10 long years and no one has made Amiga work again, this really shows you need the right people, also business it's not that easy, but from what we have seen through the years some people really have the ability to mess things up!

Virtually nothing.

The vast amounts that would be required to get the product and brand up off the ground again make it essentially worthless.

This coupled with the enormous risk for that investment and the questionable history of those currently owning the brand - with pretty much nothing to show for it - make it a very unsaleable item.

That and the fact it is worth less and less every day. As a technology brand it doesn't do it any good to have been out of the limelight for 13 years. There's a whole generation out there who haven't even heard of it.

Let's see...

Amiga Inc is probably worth 100 times the amount of dedicated followers that it could have...

SO.. basically, the existing active amiga community times 100..

SO.. at a guess...

5000 * 100 = 500000...

So about half a million pounds... (about a million dollars)

Although the figure may change depending on exactly what patents they own and any stock (hah!) that would come as part of the deal...

So, to get AInc back off the ground if you were gunna buy it.. You'd probably need the cash to buy it and about $10million to sink into development and advertising...

I can see it now... The new Amiga 10000! (Yeah, I still like the old numbering system)
Although, possibly getting a console ready to ship in about 3-5 years time with features that will blow you away would work too... (3-5 years because that's gunna be the best time to release something with brand new innovative features as ppl start to get bored with their PS3s, XBox360s and Wiis)
So there'll basically be 2 systems... The Console and the big-box system... The big box system will have to be capable of running the console games as well and the console will also have to have a (slightly more basic) range of applications. That way it'll be a console AND a serious machine... thereby appealing to all markets (Just like the original amiga range did) But the console version will have to look like a console, 'cause that's probably where to bulk of sales will go..

Edit: I really have to stop writing such long posts on this topic

@all

I think Tigger has honestly said he will mortgage his house to make a serious offer if it fell into that ballpark. I don't know what Tigger's house is worth but for arguement's sake I think we need to start thinking at least in the 1/4 Million to 1/2 Million USD range.
