Hi everyone

Just thought we would let you see that DiscreetFX Partners did in fact send Amiga a request for valuation so investors could attempt to buy the company out back in Oct 2006. You can also pull up the tracking info yourself @ www.usps.com

Label/Receipt Number: EQ97 0017 991U S
Status: Delivered

Your item was delivered at 11:14 am on October 31, 2006 in ISSAQUAH, WA 98027. The item was signed for by B MCEWEN.

DiscreetFX keeps everything. we are very complete like that.

@DiscreetFX

I doubt anyone was really gonna believe A.Inc.'s story. It's just too bad you couldn't buy it.

Just playing devil's advocate here, but that doesn't really prove anything - for all we know you all you sent Bill McEwen was an empty box.

Your welcome to believe that of course, but that is not what we sent AI via expensive Express Mail. I think DiscreetFX's reputation speaks for itself in the Amiga community.

@Hondo

Amiga never gave us a company valuation which is what we needed to buy the company. Of course it is a free country and Amiga Inc. does not have to sell if they don't want to. The Amiga community would be better of in the hands of DiscreetFX though, just our opinion of course.

I agree...my personal view is that bill McEwan is the worst thing that has happened to Amiga since the fall of C=. I can't think of much else that can go wrong...pretty much everything that you can think of has happened in the wrong direction.

McEwan should have called it quits and sold out after a couple years in...hanging on now is just really wasting all of our time. Amiga Inc. really has nothing to show for their existance outside of the PDA/mobile games which, of course, is of little or no interest to the Amiga community.

Don't take me wrong, I'm not saying that you're lying here. I'm just pointing out that you're not proving what you think you're proving.

@Cool_amigaN

Um I'm not sure most of the community agree. I'd like to see the amiga in the hands of a company who have a vision for its future, the finances to pull it off and a secure business sense.

DFX have yet to show any real vision other than saying that they think AmigaOS would be quite good for mobile phones, though quite who they're going to get to partner wiht them to fund the massive amounts of coding that would be needed to bring AmigaOS anywhere near up to scratch for such a device (let alone re-develop all the apps which are already available on other mobile OSs) is beyond me.

They don't have anywhere near the funds to buy Amiga. Forget about out perceived value, Amiga Inc OWN Amiga and therefore they can choose at what value they wish to sell. If DFX cannot afford that then how can they afford to support development, distribution and marketing of the OS?

And as for business sense? Advertising publicly on forums of your intention to make an offer for a company? Sending out open letters to the community asking us to urge Amiga Inc to sell?

If DFX miraculously obtained OS4, the only 'positive' thing that could happen would be a final end to OS4 as DFX become insolvent and theres finally nobody around left in purchasing the Amiga 'assets'

Harsh maybe, but better than blindly following a company just because they're not AmigaInc

I'm not sure what you are trying to prove by either this tracking link or this thread.

According to the Q&A McBill said in answer to the question

Discreet FX offered a while ago to buy Amiga Inc, is Amiga Inc for sale if the right price is offered?
We never received an offer to purchase Amiga. We received a questionnaire. Amiga is not for sale.

All you have done is confirm what McBill said.

A cynic might wonder if all this publicity you are trying to create for yourself by acting like the good guy striving to protect the Amiga from the nasty McBill (despite you having no chance whatsoever of having the funds to do so - and you know it), doesn't smell a bit like profiteering?

By acting like you have the Amigas best interests at heart, you are likely to gain favour and customers (in the same way that Genesi and Bill Buck did some years ago) by exploiting the strained relationship between Amiga Inc and the community to your own advantage.

Of course that would be the cynics point of view and not necessarily the truth, however your method of conducting what should be private business in public forums does not come across very well. Perhaps you should reconsider how you present yourself to the public to avoid misunderstandings like this in future?

plus, as Bill clearly states, the company is not for sale, i.e. So no matter what it is worth (a nickel or enough to make Bill Gates wet his bed) you still won't be allowed to buy it.

WHY does it seem that anyone and everyone involved with the Amiga is just really crap-o-la at Public Relations?

/me shakes her head...

Some people have miss-interpreted and miss-represented this as DiscreetFX not seriously attempting to purchasing Amiga. So I can understand this post and I think it is a good thing.

I don't understand why some people must jump on anybody who tries to make a positive impact to the Amiga scene.

You can't buy a company without reviewing their financial information. Well I guess you could but it would not be very business smart. That is what DiscreetFX did, ask for Amiga Inc's financials which is the first step in buying a company. Tedd wanted me to post this tracking info, I am against it in fact. I guess it is an ethics thing for him. My investors are so mad at Amiga now they would have to do some major butt kissing to even get to talk to them.

Hmm...emotions like that, if nothing else, show that your investors still care.
I'd be more concerned if they were apathetic about the situation.

Just out of curiosity, why does it have to be Amiga? Why not find a small company that's actually trying to do something in line with whatever your vision is, and buy out or partner with them?

@DiscreetFX

Also out of curiosity, A(D)'s business plan also appears to
include mobile phones. Your goals seem to simply emphasize
more of a desktop and Amiga community-friendly approach.

Wouldn't you and your investors be able to accomplish your
goals by investing directly in A(D) and use that as leverage
to sway their emphases?
