@VooDoo

There must have been a 68k or OS4.x update since Sep/Oct 2008 when the beta showed up surely? Fancy giving it a go, but doesn't sound much fun stability wise!

Bump!

This could have been as big a deal as Amiga Doom but sadly no one seems bothered to follow up this buggy beta version! Any news what so ever? Not even a little bit?........

The MorphOS version looks playable, I guess the Blues won this battle!

Hello, earth to gamers! Is the Amiga community incapable of porting freeware games any more? Then we really are a hobbiest bunch of Bejewelled playing losers

Please correct me if I'm wrong! Surely the release of Red Alert is a big deal? Am I missing something?

@BigD

i play it on my A1 without problems (except that sporadic crashes most of all caused by stack). The problem is that OperRA is BUGGY. Stop.
On any platform you will have a crash.

The solution is.. download an emulator and play on the original game.. or play on another game..

So the 68k version is buggy too? Oh well, amybe I won't bother. ADoom was such a professional job, I must be spoilt for freeware Amiga conversions

On 68K AmigaOS you wouldn't probably notice all bugs so easily.

@Mr_Capehill

Have you tried it then? What did you think? Am I better off dusting off my dad's old PC lap top and borrowing it for the weekend?

@Mr_Capehill

So did everyone else form the sound of this thread! It's C&C on an Amiga guys! Does it work well on a 68K?

@BigD

ADoom was based on the original stable source code that iD software released. AFAIK this effort is to recreate the RedAlert engine from the scratch by a bunch of voluenteers on their freetime. It's not Amiga community's fault exactly if there are bugs in the current engine. Of course we could help to fix them if we can make proper bug reports.

Assuming this project is beta, it won't run on 68K any better. Some bugs might just go unnoticed because there is no memory protection in OS3.

@Mr_Capehill

It's a shame EA didn't release the source code as well as the game itself, then we could make it stable!

I found a kind of reverse engineered Doom 2 WAD on the internet and it was shocking! Their mission was to make a version of Doom 2 that was 100% freeware. What they created however was a 'Frankenstein' version that would crash using ADoom. I'm worried this is the same sort of bodge job! Hasn't anyone played the 68k version? I find that hard to believe!

No news/forums there. There are classic users on this Site too! I guess they are not as excited about RTS games as myself

@BigD

I tried it on WinUAE and I can tell it's playable.
On real Amiga it would be just slower but should be playable too.

Cheers,
Arti.
