It's with great sadness that I have to inform the Amiga community the passing of Asha DeVelder on Jan 3, 2009. Many will remember her as moderator of the FidoNet International AMIGA Echo. She attended many of the early Amiwest shows in Sacramento, so some of you may have had the fortune to have meet her in person. She hosted a Sunday night irc chat every week for many years where friends could get together & enjoy each others company. I'm proud to say I was part of her World & she was part of mine.

I & many others will miss you sweetheart..

@sundown

I never met Asha face to face but we had conversations since I started with fido back in the 80's.. After Fido we emailed a lot with mails being several pages long..

Knowing that her health wasn't the best and her past it was amazing how she always put other people's problem before hers, and was always reasonable and had respect for different opinions.

I've been holding back to post this on this site for a few reasons, I'm glad you didn't.

Rest in peace Asha..

I only knew Asha from CompuServe and am sad to hear of her passing.

May we meet again.

Rest in peace Asha.

ditto.

I thought we should include this link to illustrate the people she knew and the lives she touched from earlier days:

@JimS

She was rare, her personality matched her good looks.

We're still trying to get a hold of the server administrators to keep the chat channel going with some op's, & I want you to be one, if things work out. Kelli being another.

OK. I don't really know the OP commands, but I guess I can learn them. We don't really have many problems there requiring banning or booting people anyway.

It would be nice to keep the place going, but I wonder if it will last? Since Asha's been gone, the conversation's been sort of thin. She was the spark...

Jim

Wow...I haven't thought of Asha in years, since my FidoNet/FlashNet days....

Her family and friends will be in my prayers. :(
