| Re:new AGA chips
There would have to be a die reduction to get AGA's masks to work on modern SOCs. Since the originals weren't designed using VHDL, AHDL or Verilog, it would have to be totally reengineered from an FPGA or something first anyway. CloneAA, Minimig, Natami, and FPGArcade are headed in the right direction so we'll just have to see how they turn out. |

I don't think that's quite true... IIRC the developers who joined the case were merely asking a court to rule on who owned their IP (in case of a negative judgement from the US). There was never any argument with Hyperion.

Just popping in to say congrats to Hyperion and the OS4 fans. Its bloody typical, I step off world for a few weeks and miss the first real news in Amigaland in years.
Life will of course be more boring now without all the conspiracies, but a nice Amiga laptop would help soften the blow, hint hint.
Anyway, I'm off to watch the flying pigs that are heading south for the winter and I'll have to pop down to the shops to get Satan some woolen jumpers as he's suffering terribly since Hell froze over.

| @Thread Wow, 11 pages.
All these pages just because a bunch of opposing camp followers can't cope with the fact that the Official Amiga OS will not die as they hoped (and predicted many times in the past months).
It will instead continue evolving and be better than ever.
Everyone should be happy about it.

with opposing camp followers you mean the guys that are only interested in morphos?... if so this is better news than ever. if amigaos have died my interest in amiga also would have died, for me morphos is a no choice. so thank god that hyperion can bring the legacy of amiga into the future |

I never said there was an argument. I said:
Quote:
Resolution of the EU filing - unknown, but widely acknowledged as merely protection for the developers' works, and not a true grievance. |
But, as to your wording of "joined", which would indicate the paperwork was filed just to get a ruling on their IP...
AV quote: Quote:
As you probably have seen by the european lawsuit, between me, the two Friedens and against Hyperion and AInc, I'm more than willing to protect my IP from piracy or any other form of unauthorized use. |
How else can I read this but AV and the Friedens and "against" Hyperion and AInc.??
Not to worry. I'm sure this is all part of the post settlement cleanup...

Btw isn't the chipset still owned by Amiga Inc.? |
I understood that the chipset designs were 'lost' when Commodore shut the doors on their fab plant. So there is nothing to own. Jens owns CloneA, the Natami team own Natami and we all own Minimig thanks to Denis Van Weerens' generosity.
I remember Amino/Amiga were given rights to use Amiga patents in perpetuity although Gateway continued to own them. I guess Acer own them now? |

| Re: AGA chipset ownership
The patent expires next year. Why should it matter if somebody else owns it that's not doing anything with it. |
