I think it would be nice to have some "official" word on the name change, is that possible? I guess some won't believe it anyway, but for future reference at least.

Aren't opinions pre-fabricated here anyway? People that want to believe Damocles' story will do so, the others will believe that this is a mere coincidence that has nothing to do with it. Official statements will just provoke another "Hyperion are liars" thread. I think there were enough of those already.

Yes, I can understand that, but either way I think it's important to have a link to the other side of the argument. There will be future discussions about this, and at least someone could say "Here's what Hyperion say about it.". I can also see many reasons for not giving such information, I was just asking.

That's Hyperion's partner your slamming.

Do you have actual proof to backup a definitive statement like that? I suspect the answer is no and that you are just trying to stir crap up. Conjecture and discussing theories is one thing. Trying to taint honest conversation with a statement that they are partners with no proof is quite another. Provide proof or retract.

I agree it'd be nice. But I also agree it would never be good enough for some. After making it through a multi-year legal mess I'd certainly change my company to the one with more limited personal liability if it were me. And so would most people.

The problem is, at least in the Amiga community, the companies in the know rarely if never give Official statements. (or in the case of Amiga Inc they'd give totally unbelievable lies --like "we have no product to market, be we are going to invest $10 million dollars for my kids peewee football team arena" )

I've always stood by saying that if the companies in control and in the know just shared honestly information about what is going on then we would all be better off and there would be less fighting.

Amiga Inc has cost a lot of mistrust. But hopefully they are pretty much gone (I say hopefully because there is no official word to say just how much they are out of the picture)

I look forward to a day when we don't have all of Amiga Inc.s lies and B.S., but I also look forward to a day when there is just open communication. Where a company says, This is what's going on. Here is a real estimated time table." Not things like, "We are working on our most ambitious project ever!!" Seemingly to purposely get us all riled up again, and then can't understand why we are frustrated after months and months of silence.

@AmigaHeretic

Trust me, we ARE working on our most ambitious project ever.

But we will announce nothing until there is sufficient evidence to back up our announcement.

I trust your statement. Is it ARM with built-in emulation of m68k code and PPC code...or something similar?

I'm with Al4 , I trust you. Hyperion has akways shown themselves to be more than trustworthy. I think most the community agrees that we are lucky to have an honest company in charge before.

My comment was more referring not trust, but more on the lines of you can't have it both ways.

If you don't want to talk about a project until it's ready to release. That fine.

But you can't splash "Most ambitious project ever!!" on your website and then 'at the same time' get irritated with the community when they get restless after months of silence.

I don't mean you personally, but I feel like people within the Hyperion circle get irritated with all the threads speculating what the "Most ambitious project ever" is.

I'm just saying that in my opion regular communication, updates on project status and timlines, etc are the #1 way to go.

Not wanting to say anything until a project is complete and ready is a close 2nd.

But giving us huge claims to get people excited only to sit and stir for months isn't the best plan IMHO.

I've said it dozens of times over the years, it would great for the community to have a company in charge that had very open communication, everything spread at on the table as it were.

@All

The most ambitious project could actually at least mean 3 things:

1. Full Java-support
2. OpenGL and everything supporting todays' 3D-technology
3. Support of other CPU-platforms than PPC

At least i think it's something like that...

@HKvalhe

That could be defined as three separate projects.

They said on their website that they are working with their partners to finish it. If it were software, they might have done it alone, since that is their profession. To get it onto an ARM device or two, they would have to work with hardware companies.

@Al4

Ah yes, that could be the software part. We might be talking about the hardware part.

I see 2 great possibilitiies to happen. Either a brand new hardware platform. That could very well be something like Cell, or Multi-Core PPCs, or simply what has been denied for so long: A port to x86 hardware so that every PC can run AmigaOS 4.1 and beyond!

@HKvalhe

Will A Inc collaborate with Hyperion ever, or is there no need for Hyperion?

That thing AI were working on,
are they working on it? will it get done? what is it meant to be anyway?

If it has to be ARM it might as well be x86, their price scales down faster than everything else and they are powerful.

On my part I would prefer some powerful PPC part.
