I have heard that the pages of AmigaONE X1000 Riddle on A-Eon.com site will be deleted within some months as long as A-EON will develop their new site on more serious basis to accomply commercial purposes.

Then someone of good will could save the pages of the "Riddle" hunting for "X" and upload it as a memento of Amiga History in any site dealing with Amiga History?

These pages renewed worldwide interest in Amiga amongst all major famous OS sites, and also were very funny and match perfectly the "enjoyininess" nature of Amiga and AmigaOS.

Thousands of people had visited "What is X?" pages.

These pages also accomplished well their task of making very funny zero-cost Advertising Campaign for Amiga.

The "What is X?" and "X" Riddle pages of A-Eon are testimonies of the history of Amiga keep going on, so they deserves to be saved for future memory.

@Raffaele

You could save them and upload them to OS4depot maybe?

@bitman

I mirrored them each day. With A-Eon's permission, I could host them (somewhere) and have them available in chronological order so people could see them as we did.

archive.org's archives of a-eon.com

a-eon.com existed as far back as 2001!

but nothing for 2010

Seriously, have you got nothing better to do?

So, you enjoyed the riddle, good for you! If people from all over the world have visited the pages, then it was a big missed opportunity to have a pre-order page at the end with official Hyperion support! I'll be a lot happier when A-Eon have an official website, a manufacturable product, a case and a price! Otherwise you can file the pages of this marketing joke under 'V' for 'Vapourware'!

I wouldn't rely on the "waybackmachine" - it's not always updated and often are images missing.

Seriously mate! I'm a computer user! I get excited over new products, not cheap gimmick websites with no bottom line! Amigans have been taken for a ride by companies so often that I'm not going to accept these cheap shot 'hook lines' about 'What's X' until I can see it's a real product made by people who know what they are doing! It's going to cost the equivalent of a MacBook Pro for goodness sake!!! What is the time line on it's development, what will the case look like and will it ship with OS4.1/4.2 from the get go? These are the questions that need answering!

Yup. But I did it anyway. For historical purposes. People do these things. Heck 'A1200' registered a bunch of X1000 and a-eon domain names. 50 quid worth!

Haven't you got something better to do than criticise other people on forums?

I just don't understand the logic! This really is fanboyism gone mad! A-Eon are unknowns and Hyperion still haven't acknowledged them as partners! They're as unproven in the electronics industry as ACK right now!!

To answer your question: I have a handrail order to place for an industrial water cooling tower if that qualifies as something better to do?

Oh dear! No need to get over zealous!

Finally, someone with some hard evidence about what the X1000 will cost! I haven't heard the official figure, care to share?

And no doubt they will be answered.

Listen BigD, I can understand you've been hurt by all the vapourware that's appeared in this community. It must be heart-wrenching to see your fellow Amigans fooled so easily and so frequently, and I can understand your pain, but please tell me, for a company who has actually delivered their product, and delivered a product which so far has exceeded the 'announced' details, don't you think it's reasonable to cut them a little slack with the 'All announcements are heinous vapourware until I personally have the product in my hot little hands' attitude towards newly announced projects?

Seriously man, be a little more flexible.

Honestly... gone mad? Archiving some web pages is suddenly an activity indicative of mental imparement? Oh woe is me. I'm a nut-job. At last. Well, better nip off and shoot myself or something then I guess.

Well, they're a new 'startup'yes. But we know that Ben Hermans of Hyperion fame, and even our own TrevorDick, who from my observations, is a stallwart member of this very community! Are you saying TrevorDick is trying to pull a swifty on us all? Is Ben Hermans un-known and unproven? I think your angle is a little skewed and overly biased towards the conspirational. Hmm?

Well hop to it then! I'll be here dribbling from the corner of my mouth, talking to the wall for a little bit, while my lazy eye does laps.

Where have you learnt about this inferred 'close knit' relationship between A-Eon and Hyperion? Why do you treat them as one and the same? Their has been NO official announcement from Hyperion and they may not even have agreed a partnership yet. They have an old Hyperion staff memeber and one of their contractors on board, that doesn't mean Hyperion themselves are on board yet! Don't treat this Hardware startup company as the long standing and trusted Software company that we all know and trust! Is this even confirmed as Hyperion's MAP announcement?

Hmm let's see... a new startup, whom nobody has heard of, making a piece of hardware noone has ever seen with a web site that has only recently been registered, shows up in a screenshot of development progress in porting firefox to Amiga OS.

This screenshot is from the very developers of AmigaOS 4, and these contractors to Hyperion have been on these forums discussing, where they can, the features of this unknown hardware from an unknow startup, showing they have very good knowledge of said unknown hardware. They even state they have a board 'right next to them' (Fancy that, an AmigaOS 4 developer, not part of or employed by A-Eon, having one of these vapourware boards.)

Hmm.. where might I get the idea that they might be working in partnership? I'm lost.. how about you?

You sir have a definite sense of the dramatic!

It doesn't benefit Hyperion to hold back confirming a partnership with A-Eon. It's almost as if they want to perpetuate this random guessing and wasteful prediction process! I suppose it's a product of them having no marketing budget for OS4.1 and the hardware to run it and they're hoping we'll do all the work for them by discussing it non-stop right up until the release day probably in about a years time!
