Hi,

since we're all amigans here, I guess many, like me, first owned a C64... well, I'd like to inform those who still hold dear that machine that a new preview of HOC INIT EXIT - a toy game for the C64 I fiddle with in my spare time - is now available: check it out on CSDb.

List of changes:
- added music (by Richard Bayliss);
- added hiscores;
- added game over notification;
- improved graphics in a few places;
- made title screen colorful.

Enjoy!

@saimo

Yes I loved my C64. The graphics of this game look really cool. Reminds me of Creatures or Mayhem in Monsterland.

Hello,

I'd simply like to inform you that since the previous announcement there have been a couple of updates.
The changes are minor:
* fixed a badly positioned variable assignment which inhibited the reset of difficulty at the beginning of a new game;
* fixed color flickering occurring when the "GAME OVER" string was flashing and the pig was on the first or second platform;
* retouched graphics slightly;
* sped-up a little platforms generation.

The latest version is available on the CSDb page as usual.

Since you insist talking in past tense, I take it you have other emotions for your C64 now.

On topic though, the game in question looks well worth its development time (and hopefully any price tag associated with it). You may want to inform the community members over at the recently started commodoreserver.com service about it (and while you're at it, also drop a note over at lemon64.com).

Oh, it would furthermore be pretty nice if you would consider making official art for any disk labels and envelopes people are bound to crave for.

Actually this is not (and hardly will ever be) a commercial project.

commodoreserver.com: I didn't know about it - I'll drop them a line (EDIT: done - it looks like the site is brand-new: HOC INIT EXIT is the first public game to ever appear on it!).
Lemon 64: already done

No, sorry, that would be wasted time (at least for now).

Preview 3 is available now - get it here ;)

List of changes since version 2c:
* added end-of-level special phase (including new graphics and music);
* improved graphics;
* added catches notification;
* added music fadeout;
* improved platforms variety;
* fixed a bug in the chart saving routine (only the first save would work);
* made many speed and memory optimizations;
* made lots of other changes (mostly internal, for future development).

@saimo

The graphics are really cute, great work saimo!

BTW I wonder if it's possible to manufacture tapes these days. Imagine releasing commercial C64 games in 2010!

Sure it's possible - ever heard of Psytronik Software?
BTW: a .tap version will be released on TND website, so that one can even put the game on tape at home!

I'd like to inform you that I've just relased a little update.
Changes:
* fixed the flicker of some pixels, which was visible only on real machines and accurate emulators;
* added level part to score shown in in-game screen;
* compressed the program for faster loading;
* made various other minor changes.

Here are a few updated screenshots:

Get it from here.

@saimo

This is a nice little game. The only thing I didn't like with it was having to get to the toilet at the end of the level, because there are times where you cannot get down from higher platforms to it if you happened to complete the level right at the top and it scrolls on the lowest platforms.

It seems a bit harsh to penalise the player not getting to it in that circumstance, especially as you can only drop down ledges where the gaps are, and they generally are nowhere near you (for example left hand edge when you are at the right hand edge, and the toilet starts moving in a left to right manner, leaving you zero chance to drop down and catch it).

It would be nice if at the end you have the opportunity of pulling down and pressing fire to drop down a ledge. I think the best I managed was around level 7 before being beaten by a wayward lavatory.

I don't want to spoil the fun, so let me just say: it's a matter of strategy
Thanks for trying the game and the feedback!

A new commercial high quality game for the Mighty 64 that oozes fun !

I bought the cartridge version that came beautifully boxed here!

if you've got your 64 set up and still use it go get a copy & make your 64 smile again! It'll wonder if it's 1985 again

I don't know how you do it Simone but you've got some God given talent to produce such new original fun playing games for our beloved 64's and Miggies

Just to avoid misunderstandings:
* the game is downloadable for free;
* v1.3 (the previous one) has been released also on cart by RGCD - and, of course, that can't come for free

Well, thanks for the free advertising!

While I appreciate your appreciation (heh), let's not make it bigger than it really is: this is just a little joke
