mui-owb progress:

Deniil found how to replace some necessary mui4 methods on mui3, and now check this out:

google maps
mui-owb & reaction-owb at one time
some "heavy" site

And video of current port here (youtube as usuall)

Still need to fix stuff (you can see DSI on video), also there is some more DSIs there and there , some problems with history of urls , tabs for now a bit ugly, but well, text typing not works normally (need to rewrite some encoding fucntions to os4), and threading still not fixed, which can give us random dsi , favicons and fast link also need to fix and so on.

In others words, while it looks like "its almost done", there is many to do.

@all
mui-owb progress:

1. mouse-wheel works now (a bit different beetwen aos4/mos).

2. Slash start to help us in their spare time, and he already rewrite utf8_to_local and local_to_utf8 functions, which allow now to see names of sites in Titles "right" on any language.

3. fixed some problems which was with setlocale() posix functions.

4. Deniil found today pretty cool bug-difference beetwen mui4-mui3, so fixed as well, which should not give us anymore some bad crashes.

5. threading support with favicon usage more or less fixed (i.e. favicons works for tabs, but not works for history/urlhistory/bookmarks. there is need a bit more work for making it works on mui3, so Deniil works on it as well).

6. found why happens some fancy DSI , so right now Slash rewrite some little part of code related to it.

7. Slash also start to works on one mui class called Process, which will allow to do some fancy stuff for first run of owb (when font indexation is happens, to show user progress, and not be just in silence with nothing).

Still many thinks to do, but every day we close and close.

And the end, there is few screens (you can notice, that there is some little bug in the title and name of site, last character are not showns , its already fixed, just screen was done today at morning, so with old bug):

Favicons works: screen
Navigation buttons without border (some options in preferences): screen

Thanks for the update again. Great progress. By any chance have you attempted to talk to Stephan Stuntz in regard to MUI 4 3 bugfixing??

@realize

As i know Stephan Stuntz has no interest in MUI or the Amiga in any way any more. But in general for now there is nothing hard which we need to know about mui4-mui3. I mean even if we will have contact with him, we have nothing to ask, because all the stuff know Fab and Deniil.

Kas1e is driving this process with a fierce hand nagging the living #### out of me and Fab, and now also Slash

It's really looking like a "real" browser now! Progress seems very fast. I guess can't be long until it beats our existing OWB in every area (e.g. SSL support, proper pointer support, Core Web Fonts support?) even if(?) there is still a way to go for all-round speed or stability & video/flash support.

@ChrisH
SSL already works fine (well, i only checked https://mail.google.com to be honest:) ) ,for Core Web Fonts for now just used fonts:_ttf directory (but you can add any other fonts you want to that, or any other direcototy and add path to it in owb-fontconfig file).

Mouse pointers (if you mean by "proper pointer support" a mouse pointer) are disabled for now at all (some mos-specific code is here).

Related to speed, its 100% not slower than reaction one, and maybe even a bit faster. But that can be placebo, so if not faster, then speed for sure the same (if not a bit faster still) (i am about speed of rendering).

Related to stability, it should be also stable even on first beta-release, or just some minor issues. Because on morphos its stable like earth , so should be the same for us (if we will do everything right of course).

Related to video/flash support, in the first release mediaplayer/npapi will be disabled, and will be enabled/added for the next release (where we have plans to sync with latest Fab's code). But of cource, in meanwhile even without that, anyone still can use the same "clipdown/getvideo" way for playing youtube vids.
