Hi there!
I want to do a little programming in Amiga E. But I don't know what I need to download to get started. I started a bit a long time ago when I had my A1200, but I can't remember anymore. Now I have WinUAE to play around with. Would someone, kindly, point me in the right direction?

@hallatie

If you like to be able to make software for other platforms than Classic Amiga (WinUAE) you may also like to try out PortablE. Chris (the author) has recently added a lot of beginner's examples. It installs easily and compilation is as easy as with the original Amiga-E.

It can also generate simple code for Windows too. No fancy GUIs there though.

Otherwise the classic Amiga-E is a good start. you can always switch if you like to make executables for other Amiga platforms later.

@hallatie
Just to follow-up Deniil's post. The home page for PortablE is here:
http://cshandley.co.uk/portable/

That also has web-based versions of "A Beginner's Guide to Amiga E by Jason R. Hulance" and "The original AmigaE manual by Wouter van Oortmerssen".

BTW, I am still releasing a few more examples, but you can have a look at what I've released so far:

Hi Hallatie! To start programming on Amiga using Windows-based emulators like WinUAE:
1. Ensure your emulator is updated and running smoothly.
2. Download a suitable IDE (Integrated Development Environment) such as KADA64, which supports cross-compiling for the original hardware.
3. You may also need to download AmigaOS binaries or source code if you wish to compile from scratch later on.
