@Tomppeli Quote:
Why do you save the icon at all. Why don't you use DrawIconStateA() to draw it on screen directly ? Limitation of PortablE ?

Was my earlier reply not sufficiently clear?

I wrote Quote:
Sadly that's not really an option with my portable (aka OS-independant) graphics system.

EDIT: I thought of a possible work-around (wrapper the icon drawing in my own cGfxDrawable sub-class), but not sure when I will try to implement it.

To say it in another way: My chosen graphical abstraction is OS-indepentant, and therefore does not deal with AmigaOS data structures like bitmaps.

@salass00 & broadblues
Thanks for the suggestion of using IconControl()... EDIT: I've run into some problems saving the picture with a mask, but I think that's probably a different issue.

@ChrisH

One of the examples I found without source was icon2iff. It appears to save out 24 and 32 bit ilbms from icons imagery using datatypes (to save I think but I may be wrong). There no source, it was written by ChrisY, perhaps if you PM him he might give you some clues how he did it.

[edit] You've edited your post as I typed but the above may still be of help, I would be interested to know myself![/edit]

I have released an updated 'preview' of PictureAlbum here.

The changes for this release:
- BUG: Scrolling should be faster & smoother on AROS, MorphOS, and maybe OS4 too.
- BUG: Video memory usage on MorphOS should definitely be reduced now.
- BUG: It will hopefully work on the Linux-hosted version of AROS.
- CHG: Should benefit from various general bug fixes made to PortablE.
