First new Amiga since my ye olde A4000/030 in 1993.

Looking forward to 4.1.5!

If anyone is interested I will write up a review. As a 'normal' customer I'm not under any NDA so I will be as honest as I can. Also the last time I used an Amiga every day was 3.1 on my (then) A4000/060 so I kind of guess there may be lots of other ex-Amiga users in a similar place to me.

Of course AmigaKit will have to commission another batch as these have all sold out - but with that success you would hope more will follow...

I know it is expensive but it's been a while since the last Amiga - so saved up a bit since then.

Additionally my thanks to AmigaKit for sorting out the order.

Ye lucky bastard! I wish you many pleasant hours with it! Grongratulations and, yes keep us informed. Would be a nice gesture.

I just want to be sure I understand. You're not a beta-tester. You're a regular customer who bought an X1000 retail for ordinary use. This is cool. I didn't know they were on sale.

@thinkchip

Yes - I am a normal run-of-the-mill customer.

The pre-ordering went out sometime before XMas to all those that registered interest and was sold out inside 2 days I believe.

I will. I think a detailed review will help many decide on moving back to the Amiga. Even if they cannot buy an X1000 for a while as the 460 is still an option and probably fits more people's budgets better.

I am intrigued as to the contents of update 5 - just X1000 compatibility or some new features?

Guess we'll find out next week.

You're most probably not the only one and I wonder whether we are in for a nice treat this very weekend. Have my OS_4.1_5 partition in place and ready for it!

@-Sam-

Can I ask how much did it cost (final price)?

Great to know they are for sale now. I was wondering when it would happen. ;)

Congratulations!

You can.

£1915.01 ex VAT and delivery.

With:

4GB RAM
1TB HD
1GB PCI-E Radeon 4650
DVDRW

It also includes keyboard, mouse and case (all white) with serial debug and 4.1.5.

Also I believe we get 4.2 on completion.

Pricey I know - but for me it is worth a punt. I fully understand why most see it as expensive. Hopefully in the review I will be able to help people decide if it is worth their while.

Youre welcome to visit LAG, with or without baby 8).

Hold on.. 4 Gig of RAM And a 4650, 1G?

When did AOS 4.1.2 get the ability to handle 6 Gig of Physical Memory Space without using the FCx address lines? @.@

dunno about OS4, but GNU/linux can handle as much memory as you throw at it. and, at least for me, having a POWER linux box is nearly as exciting as one that runs OS4.

Well it's 4.1.5 and by my reckoning it has 4GB of RAM and 1 on the gfx card - that's not quite 6.

However - I think you are right in that the limit at current is 2GB but with RAM only a few pounds I just went with the maximum spec anyway.

I don't want to bore anyone!

I'll do a complete a review as I can with some screenshots. Is there an OS4 screenshot tool yet?

I'll leave the video review to someone else.
