At last :) I start to fear we will stuck on 29xx forever.

Now, we need to broken all the uploads of new files and replaced files for that year, as 2011 one was sucky enough by amount of new files.

@spotUP

I more concerned about the quality of what is uploaded instead then how many things that are uploaded.

Anyway its good that there are many application and tools to check out, so there is a tiny bit of freedom of choice.

Yes, because there are much amount but also there are much software not so good, although the question is, without low quality would be impossible to distinguish the medium and hight quality, all it is necessary.

I feel similar... now that my classic horde has been shipped to realize I turn my attention to looking at potentially getting the x1000 and Os4.x in the future... 2013... we shall see as I monitor developments. By then os4depot will be even better off... hopefully with a lot of quality stuff...

Q!

And how many uploads are still actuall? I mean, if a file has not been downloaded for the past 10 or 12 months , is it then still a contribution or is it a 'pollution' (my apologies for the word)?

On the other hand, would you like to 'rate' software? SOmewhere in the range of up to 5 stars? But then again, your experience and expectations may be different from others, thereby promoting unneccessary or turning down usefull software.

For the time being I would like to see some cleanup (remember it's nearly spring (on the northern half of the globe, that is)!).

I sometimes download stuff from the last century on Aminet.... just because something doesn't get downloaded for a while doesn't mean it's useless!

The key difference between Aminet and OS4Depot is that Aminet caters for all flavours of AmigaOS, while OS4Depot only addresses OS4. The latter is in very active developement. Some of the entries in OS4Depot stem from a time that OS4 was a far cry from what it is now and they address some deficiencies of the OS in that past timeframe, meaning they are now obsolete, but still littering the list. New customers may download such files and install them, although their need has been surpassed by a later iteration of the OS, possibly causing all kinds of unanticipated behaviour.

I suggest that entries on OS4Depot that have not been downloaded for, say, a year, are to be placed on a list of suggested removal, the original author being contacted and queried and if no response gotten, removal carried through. The result would be a smaller but much cleaner depot of software.

@OldFart

Well as long as it works it should not be removed, but yes some need to review the files, is some thing is broken it might be that developer that produced the software can fix it.

As developer / uploader you do not get notified about new comments on OS4Depot, that makes comments useless.
