GFX cards like Radeon HD7970 or HD6970 are well suited for winter months.

couldnt think of any other reason to put such a card in a machine running system that supports only 2d accelerated graphics. except if everybody switched to linux by now, following apparently in the footsteps of team lead.

Quality control testing . If there any firmware or driver issues then the can be isolated.
I am sure that 3D for RadeonHD cards in AmigaOS 4.x will come one day.
It is fun to boot an NG AmigaOS system into Linux once in a while.
In the internet browser department it shows you were AmigaOS 4.x could be one day.
