From a "well-known" not-so-trustworthy but sometimes/somehow "in the know" site:

Quote:
Bill [McEwen ] is negotiating with a possible buyer…
He asks 1.200.000$ for the Amiga brand, they
are offering 400.000… more news follows…

As usual, to be taken with a pinch of salt (or popcorns, if you prefer).

Cheers,
SP

@Shufflepuck

Just one obvious question then...

Has Pluritas filed a lawsuit against him yet?

You simply do not sign a contract with a realtor and then sell the listed property behind the realtor's back.
Think about it...

Yep, you're right, but maybe after almost 2 years and no interested party Pluritas is not in charge anymore in selling their IP rights. Can't find any link/mention of Amiga Inc. on their website, except for the original announcement/PDF through Google (site:pluritas.com amiga):

Sure. Much like a contract with a realtor, it is drafted with a time frame and it will expire.

Whenever I hear these stories I always ask the poster for a press release or corporate link to prove the account in no longer being handld by Mark at Pluritas.

Guess how many people have such "facts" to back up their claims?

Oddly though, I've heard the 400,000 figure before. Of course we've also had the 87 million dollar figure and the yet larger than THAT figure too to accomodate for the huge rise in the value of the stock.
May I go back to sleep now? Heh.

Hmm, is not the proper way to do it:

First you sell, then you sue?

On a side note, Amiga Inc. removed the infamous Xpedio (or whatever they were called) tablets from their website:

http://amiga.com/

Cheers,
SP

Edit: ok, I also noticed this (http://amiga.com/about/contact/?contact_department=publicity), below in Bold:

$400K? (let alone $1.2M!) You could probably hire a really good lawyer for $50K and decimate their claims in court. Just take it to jury and have one Amiga fan after another testify how they used the name to repeatedly defraud the community.

No seriously. It was 87 million at one point and higher at another.

Not to be a jerk guys, but am I the only one who doesn't get the value of a name, and a name alone?

Amiga Inc. has no products or anything else to sell but their name LOL!

I'd rather not distract you with links to this sorry chapter in Amiga history. You have better things to do.

I don't understand the "realtor" part. What does that mean and who are Pluritas? I'm confused.

@tommywright

Pluritas was the one charged with the divestiture of the Amiga IP.

I only used "realtor" as a metaphor to illustrate that if you sign a contract to have someone else sell something for you, it is NOT a good idea to go and sell parts of that same thing yourself behind the realtor's back.

Well I did. They still list the "inventory":
