@RobertB

It would have been nice if you had put these videos somewhere where you can view them on an amiga... I tried IBrowse, MUIOWB, NetSurf and Timberwolf, nothing worked :(

about "Stpehens talks..." -video...

Shows also some of the annoyances of AOS4. It's too easy to make it unstable.

Robert knows that. After last year's show he said:

Quote:
Yes, Blip.tv used to have a direct download option but not anymore. Now it suggests that you download through iTunes.

If you own a PC, you can use something like BlipTV Video Downloader or similar, or if you own a Mac, you can use something like iFunia Video Downloader Pro or similar in order to get the video.

Amigaworld.net member Ryu has offered to host my videos at his site. I might just have to take him up on the offer.

Some material from 2009 IS there:

http://www.intuitionbase.com/static.php?section=multimedia

Since the discussion to host these on Intuitionbase obviously already took place, I can only assume something is preventing it technically.

@Severin

Well, it actually does work in Odyssey (MUI OWB), with this userscript:
http://fabportnawak.free.fr/owb/scripts/Blip.js
Just add it through the script manager.

On OS4, only the download link will be available and not the HTML5 video element, but it's better than nothing. ;)

The next Amiwest Show video, "Stephens talks about the best programs for Amiga OS 4.1", has been uploaded to the Web. Find it at

http://blip.tv/file/6396640

another nicely carried out presentation. nothing new actually but done convincing like that it may almost sell me on os4, based on its apps, especially digital universe. what is a little annoying even if not unexpected is the system stability issues, given not much operations have been actually carried out and especially not in parallel, beyond that the apps were started, gui or basic functionality shown and quit to quicly start another. but lets assume thats a "show effect", my a4k may actually do worse if id really try to show it off.

@wawa

yeah, i was little embarrassed after the presentation. in truth the machine only had one crash, but that's one crash too many. the other restarts were because of my screen modes and the projector not being terribly compatible. the keyboard i was using lacked a functional left-amiga key, so i couldn't just switch the screen back to the workbench, change the screen mode, and continue.

sorry about that guys.

i can only say that when i went through it at home there were no crashes, and no problems, but hey, that's 'show business,' i guess.

@wawa

Jason was running experimental versions of AROS for SAM460, Raspberry Pi, and FPGAArcade. They crashed occasionally, especially when SFS decided to run a check of the Flash media.

Jason's presentation was done on Linux using Google's online cloud PowerPoint substitute so it didn't crash.

On the video with the AmigaOS 4 apps presentation, I think the reboots were unnecessary. For example neither Hatari nor AmigaOS 4 crashed when it said System halted! (at 16:48), just the Atari TOS halted. To quit the emulator, the user can just press Alt+q then Ok, or F12 then Quit. Or reboot the Atari with Alt+r (No AmigaOS problem here).

the keyboard was on the fritz. that's why i had to reboot so many times. there was only one actual 'crash,' an ISI error which has since been reported to the author. hatari has never crashed on me, either at the show or in the past.

great work!

Great video, some useful tips. Been wondering how to access Facebook chat for sometime on AOS without using the website, so simple!

I Think Amiga is the worst machine at the time being. Don't get me wrong. Have the OS4 and 4,1 but a year of a computer repair is comming noncense. Still even the Sams can not beat my (broken?) XE in most areas bought about 8 years ago...

Bill Gates is laughing at us and Steve just turns his side as he's happy...

What can we do? Just Play Retro or stay fighting around at the forums?

A kind request from an old Amigan to join and work for the hmm video like thingie but a bit even towards todays standards.

My € goes if a mini wlan laptop could replace a phone in a living room or a working compatible machine.

10 years of waiting. Back to the good old stuff until then;)

@eliyahu

Great presentation and a nice mix of new and old programs really demonstrates what appeals to me about computing with AOS4. I also decided on WarpView as being my favorite viewer. And thanks to you I have tracked down fxPAINT and am playing around with it (along with Andy's new SketchBlock 1.7 update!).

Once you get LightWave dialed in to the best screen resolutions for the various things, I can see how things could come off the tracks if you suddenly use it with a different monitor (or projector in this case). I've never touched Aladdin before, but since you showed it working as is I'd like to get the current version. (Discreet, you listenin'? Heh.)

May have to get AmigaWriter too after seeing how smoothly you scrolled that document on your Sam.

Also want Digital Universe now. You are costing me! LOL.

All in all, a very nice presentation.

@RobertB

Wow, thank you for getting these posted so quickly. We've become a well oiled machine over the last 15 years :)

@All

Robert worked his butt off to get these video's shot and put together. Don't think it's an accident he has these recorded. At the show he is constantly asking when events are and where they will be. It simply would not happen with out his determination. For example, at the banquet he worked to make sure he had a good seat with his equipment on hand. It's also important to know that he spends a huge part of his time working the camera and getting ready for the next video shoot.

Robert, great job as always! Please setup a Paypal donation box so we can share our appreciation with dollars :)

Take care,
Bill "tekmage" Borsari

@thread

renewing a tradition from shows past, intuitionbase.com is pleased to be hosting copies of robert's excellent amiwest videos on our site. so for amigans who don't have access to a system capable of viewing flash video, you can download the individual video files from our multimedia archive. i've downsampled the videos and reencoded them to use formats more usable on the amiga. and they're smaller than the originals as well.

a huge thanks to robert for his permission for us to host the videos and for his ongoing dedication to amiwest and the amiga community!
