So the Sam460 is currently the only machine capable of running every Amigalike OS by default? Cool!
Or is there an AROS port for the Pegasos? Too bad i have a 440 though!

Edit: damn spelling...

As an OS4 user i must say it come to me like a thunderbolt

Everything was agains a port to same machines that os4 runs on. Its good for MOS users to able to get non applemachines too. And also for curious OS4 users or x-amiga users that wants to come back but dont know what to choose. This ways its easier, get Sam460 and run'em all. Aros/linux/os4/mos etc.

Also its good for developers that wants to port their apps to other systems, they can run the other port and see if it works well etc.

Yes but ppc card doesn't come out of the box also you pay an arm and a leg ...ok the SAM isn't cheap either but at least it's not 20 years old and if it breaks you can have it repaired under warranty. And MorphOS only up to 1.x
Not to mention the fact that I don't have any PPC card on any of my classics

@nubechecorre

Think it excellent news, hardware unity at last.
Better for the users and developers and better for Acube-Systems.

@nubechecorre

Maybe this tread should be moved to “MorphOS Hardware” instead of under OS4/Workbench!!!

How AROS made it easy? Changes to SAM460 U-Boot code? Ports are not related to each other at all...

on the driver level like apparently few times before. i cant tell if that is actually the case, but having mos port so soon after aros on sam might indicate that there might be some connection. anyway i dont mean a harm, you dont need to get alert. in fact i think its good that the borders between camps may blur a little. having a common development forum is positive too.

@salass00

hard to expect nubechecorre, os4 user himself so far i know , would try to misinform his own community. and if something is confirmed by mos team i trust it alright. no doubt.

@wawa

Did you think about one thing for example that MorphOS port was done before Aros one?

Interesting news...

Can anyone show a video of it, even a short bit of footage of the SAM460 running MOS?

I'd be interested in adding it to my videos

Hmmmmmm

This might just influence my choice between X1000 and the 460

Always supposing I can come up with the money for either of them anyway

go to facebook, look for the event "Pianeta Amiga 2012", there you can watch a video showing the boot of MOS on the Sam board
