| A few weeks ago, a local computer dealer had a HD4850 for $20 (USD). I thought it would make a great replacement for my old EAX1600 Pro. Unfortunately, the 4850 is a double slot card, rendering my PCI slot useless... until now.
Enter the ARC1-152-C7.
Here is my initial system with EAX1600 Pro (heat pipe cooled and silent), USB slot expansion, and PATA PCI card.

I took out the old graphics card and the PATA card. I put in the ARC1-152-C7 riser card. I then put the PATA card into the riser.

Finally, I put the HD4850 in.

Everything runs fine. The only problem I have is the video RAM. It is supposed to be a 512MB card, but shows only 256MB. Other than that, the SAM460ex runs stable and fast.
(My apologies for the blurry pics. I still can't figure out my digital camera. I want my 35mm back!) _________________ I sold my SAM460ex lite... waiting for money to buy a Raspberry Pi... or a Classic A1000 with Buffee... or an A1222... and OS4.3 FE update 11 |

That is exactly what it should show with current Picasso96. |

So now you've rendered the PCIe x1 useless _________________ This weeks pet peeve: Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). The cable length for the riser can be ordered in various lengths. So, theoretically, one could get a long enough cable to be able to use the PCIe, PCI, and PCIe mini slots. Of course, in my setup, the PCIe x1 is indeed unusable. _________________ I sold my SAM460ex lite... waiting for money to buy a Raspberry Pi... or a Classic A1000 with Buffee... or an A1222... and OS4.3 FE update 11 |

No audio problem... unless you mean the inability to use the Center, Surround, SPDIF, and other nifty audio connections on the motherboard.

Which sadly had no use so far (apart from one PCI-E sound card working)
Seems SAM 460 needs low profile video cards not to._________________ OS 3.x AROS and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionalism. Learn it harder way! SinclairQL and WII U lover :D YT http://www.youtube.com/user/rasvoja |

It could be useable in future for USB3.0 cards (drivers in development). |

Using this riser card and a PCIe x1 to PCI bridge card it should be possible to use a 3.3v or dual voltage pci sound card like a Soundblaster live! using the PCIe x1 slot. Another option is a PCIe x1 to PCIe x16 adapter card and a PCIe graphics card allowing the use of a 2 slot card (some speed issues would arise) .
