Price is still crazy. There’s a movement to recreate Amiga motherboards from scratch and brand new. One of those should be better than an old overpriced used machine.

While that would be functionally true, this is a rare C= version of the Amiga 4000T. There were only around 200 made before they went bankrupt. Therefore this is a rare collectors item and would be better off in a museum. It is unlikely to get regular use and will most likely sit in a display case opposite a stuffed Dodo!

THAT is why it will fetch nearly £10,000 whereas an Amiga Technologies / Escom version (which is functionally identical just with less flashy bezel plastics) would fetch around £1,500. That on paper is a multiple of 6 increase in value due to its rarity only!

Hope this helps us understand what's going on here. Hoarders and collectors love this stuff!

However, it not the same Commodore A4000T machine that was for sale previously. That one worked/works

I understand why he lists as not working (even though it is working) - if manchine fails within 30 day of delivery - eBay will ask the seller to take the machine back (at his cost) or issue a refund.

This machine is "fully loaded" and with original packaging (which is extremly rare) - I think the price around £8000 for this machine is fair compared to what mine sold for.

That's a fair price - if you take out the value of the expansion cards and the original box (which is extremely rare) - you get a price around £6000 - £6500 for the bare system.

I guess the price was to be expected, these original Commodore 4000T's have only appeared on eBay a handful of times over the last couple of decades, and for whatever reason every other example I have seen for sale and on the internet has broken door hinges, so to find one which is I presume is fully intact and with the original box is a once in a lifetime event.

If I think back I have only ever seen three of these previously sold, and the mystery one which was sold on behalf of Dick Van Dyke, but the front fascia on his was missing so hard to tell if it a Commodore original or the Escom model.

Trevor Dickinson purchase - 2018/2019: Wasn't that £5000ish, hinges were repaired?

eBay sale 2008-2010: I recall that went for approximately £2500, hinges were repaired with some sort of resin.

The Dick Van Dyke one, 2007-2009: Someone reportedly selling on behalf of Dick Van Dyke, the front fascia was missing but as I recalled it could be personally signed and photographed. sold for approximately £2500.

About 1-2 years ago a front fascia appeared on eBay US with a $200 "Buy it now" price which someone quickly scooped up.

Anyone can recall other sales?
