@Tomas

youtube is definitely not the only one. It's probably the worst at it, even.

I very much doubt Timberwolf will ever be finished, ditto Libre Office ...

TW is not that much unfinished now. As I say that I am posting this from TW 4.0.1 that comes with X1000 AmigaOS 4.1.5. Most annoying is that copy-paste doesnt work if you ask me, as well as that Bookmarks don`t work. No GRs anytime. In my personal experience is faster then supplied OWB, haven`t installed MUI-OWB yet.

Scores 100/100 on Acid3 test

HTML5 test gives 281+9.

OWB gets 203+0.

@NovaCoder

No I don't think so but they have ben plagued by nagging for source code, and it is open source project, so people are just getting what they ask for. There might be other motives as well, they have been sick for some time, not been able to do as mutch as they liked. Also its a after work project, it has nothing to do whit the work they do for Hyperion, its some thing they do in there free time.

@NutsAboutAmiga

Hmm ... free time project, yes. But then again, it had a nice bounty.
I am posting this from TW, its fast, slick and nice, but then you get to have sometimes
problems with bookmarks,copy-paste, downloads etc. and it just ruins the experience.
Its almost there.

He did not say "released" to the public, just to be clear.

That is not true.

The only reason I mentioned AmiWest at all was to say I was busy until after the show. I've since removed that from my post because it seems to confuse people.

What I am doing is putting together a small team of developers to continue work on Timberwolf. We are not going to be sharing the code with the general public. Not until the owners of that code are ready to do so.

@NutsAboutAmiga

I just love your 'Frieden Slip' there, Nuts, it had me howling with laughter this morning. Thank you!!

@ssolie

Thank you for the clarification, I'm guessing the developers chosen to continue with Timberwolf will be well-screened before being added. It is good that it is *almost* there, hopefully it just needs a trim & tidy then a bit of fleshing out and it will be ready for a wider release. Good luck with the project.

@ssolie

Thanks for explanation :)

I dont know if will better continue the timberworlf project or ask mr Jörg Strohmayer to release the owb sources and make an integration with the last webkit sources.

In all the case i think a good and stable browser is needed :)

About the Frieden.
Is need to remember in time how much this two guys make for amigaos from the old 3.x era to the present days and today users and developers start facing the worst life thing this thing is the time, we are not more 20 or 30 years old , fresh and free.we have a job, we have a family with all the relative concerned problems and we start facing the health problems... so to all remember this everyone are people and humans this is for the developers and the genius too...

As I understand it they were going to get a new version of Firefox from the main repository.

The work to port a new version of FireFox from the main repository can be pretty big, depending on what has changed, and I believe a lot has changed in Firefox.

They will need to go through all the places in the source code they made changes and in previous version, and rewrite for new version, this is process is called merging.

It really does not matter what you want, they are not slaves, and you paid almost nothing compared to the work it takes to get this done.

The idea behind bounties is to motive developers to take on project they might not have whit out carrot hanging in there face.

You might argue that the money should not have been paid out before project was completed and I agree. This is trolls mistake.

I just love your 'Frieden Slip' there.

I some time forget who is working on what, I believe they are cooperating on many projects, don't know if that’s true or not.

Perhaps the amiga community should start a bounty for an this? It seems that an opensource firefox based browser is a much needed 'killer app' for the amigaos community. Rouge and Thomas Fredien have done excellent work so far but obviously they are too busy with os4, perhaps a bounty will help?

@cheesegrate

there is three versions of owb, two of them at least somehow open, one actively maintained. there is netsurf which is open by definition. os4 has now multiple simple browsers at disposal, thanks to qt port. putting a team together to improve just any of these options would be more feasible.

firefox/timberwolf was an ambition thing and a propagandistic issue without much of practical advantage obviously. there was a bounty to fulfill it, which has been apparently considered complete without finishing the task. what for the other bounty now? afair it has been said on amigans that synchronizing the old firefox port (4?) with the current sources means to start the work almost from the scratch, which one could have assumed from the start, right? one should not pick up a task one can not complete, but even more, one should not make port of an app in constant development one cannot even maintain.
