PPC Linux:

Hi All,

You can use FS-UAE in fullscreen instead of the Lubuntu desktop after the login.

Configuration instructions:

Create in the directory /usr/share/xsessions for example the file amigaos35.desktop with the following content:

Quote:

[Desktop Entry]
Type=Application
Name=FS-UAE with AmigaOS 3.5
Exec=fs-uae /home/christian/Dokumente/FS-UAE/Configurations/AmigaOS3.5.fs-uae

After that, logout and choose FS-UAE with AmigaOS 3.5 in the login manager.

My AmigaOS3.5.fs-uae configuration file:

Quote:

# FS-UAE configuration saved by FS-UAE Launcher
# Last saved: 2014-11-14 11:26:06

[fs-uae]
amiga_model = A4000/040
chip_memory = 2048
fast_memory = 8192
hard_drive_0 = /home/christian/Workbench
kickstart_file = amiga-os-310-a1200.rom
uaegfx_card = 1
zorro_iii_memory = 65536
window_width = 1600
window_height = 1200
bsdsocket_library = 1

Important note: The UAEgfx graphics card needs 3D acceleration by Mesa. If you use Lubuntu 14.04, 14.10, or Debian Sid you have to install the unofficial Mesa. The Mesa version from the A-EON Live Remix DVD and Lubuntu 12.04.5 LTS work fine with the UAEgfx graphics card.

Cheers,

Christian

Nice!

Solid window draging is not ideal for UAE/OS4 right now.

You can increase GFX performance in OS4 by using Petunia for CLGD5446 (it is blacklisted in Compatibility prefs).

Thank you pavlor :)
i will check it ... but the mutch worst think is the Hd access on MacOsX 10.5 is very slow on Os4.1 because Thread Naming of qemu not supported :( and Cybppc.device is faster compared the Ide and not work on OsXPPC
On LinuxPPc is really much much faster Fsuae ... modern Os make a difference ;)

Yes, it seems so (Effects in GUI prefs). However, difference is not that great on my configuration and I rather have more Fast RAM.

Do you have something software that use composition ... that 3d effect are did by this.
yes more fastram will made everything better.

@pavlor

I continue make tests . last attempt with only -maltivec flag on LinuxPPC gave me a great increasing of video performance . i was able to run the Euae with Lionheart without jit at same speed i had on
my sam 440 mini itx and this is really good if we consider the low performance of qemu cirrus emulation.
Now im bulding everything qemu core too with all altivec optimizations
im really courious if something will change ;)

PS: my friend is working on kvm and it is gaving positive result ... qemu-uae is KVM enabled right now ;)

Just Quake was slowing with 5 Boxer open . with 4 was running great.
The strange thing is Mdk run better than quake on Boxer and Mdk is more heavy resurce asking (it was need 586 cpu)

Only test on real hardware could compare hardware requirements of both games. Quake was performance demanding even back in its days - Pentium was minimum for reasonable performance.

You have only 4 cores.
