Somebody questioned whether A-EON would acquire Hyperion next and then reserve AmigaOS for their hardware. See this very thread.

If I am to be included in the ranks of an "argumentative antagonist" then firstly let me thank you for the compliment and then follow on by saying that its not obvious to me because I have a significant share and control of a multi million pound enterprise. Sorry for not fitting into your picture of a non believer as far as AOS4.x goes. _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

Perfectly logical for WinUAE/FS-UAE users who are many. An attractive price like that might outsell NG numbers of sales. I suppose that a deal with Cloanto would make even more sense in this regard. Smart move! Kamelito |

I suspect the reaction of awe is more aimed at the fanaticism required to think that the system can still be used to do useful things, like web browsing. A bit like someone who insists on driving to work in a 30 year old car that's barely fit for the road. Impressive, but at the same time it shows that someone doesn't want to move with the times.
As to me, I'm perfectly happy thanks! Your comments could be construed as a personal attack. Luckily for you I would never lower myself to report you to the "authorities" that pass themselves off as moderators around here.
And I keep myself busy with my retro 8 bit projects thanks; I am really craving a good game of Carrier Command though. But the "Amiga" is beyond any help I could give it. _________________ Blog |

WinUAE has too severe limitations to be really useable (128 MB RAM, 4 MB GFX RAM). However, it wouldn´t be that hard to fix these issues. |

if you value your sanity you should stop visiting Amiga sites where many people enjoy using their X1000's on a daily basis and really don't appreciate your constant negative comments _________________ ____________________________ c64-2sids, A1000, A1200T-060@50(finally working!),A4000-CSMKIII ! I still use some Amiga applications for my tasks (PPaint for low-resolution GFX and smtube for youtube downloads). |

| Back on topic!
Just a quick note following another late night session at Amiwest.
I'm pleased that our acquisition of AmigaWorld has generated some lively discussion. Actually we acquired Amigaworld.net several months ago. I would like to say that the move was part of some greater plan to support the Amiga community but, in this case, I have to admit it was down to purely sentimental reasons on my part. I have been an active supporter and poster on AmigaWorld since late 2004. I've always had a soft spot for AmigaWord. It was the first Amiga forum I signed up to and it was always my first port of call for all my next-generation Amiga news.
Over the years I got to know David Doyle quite well and even met up him on a flying to Northern Ireland a few years back. I knew that in recent years his Amiga interest had waned so following our acquisition of Amiga.org I let him know that if he was ever thinking about selling AmigaWorld to give me a call as I wanted to make sure the forum did not disappear.
David said he was not intending to sell AmigaWorld.net but if he did, he wanted to make sure it went to a safe pair of hands and would contact me should he ever decide to sell the forum. However, shortly afterwards he contacted me to say that he had discussed the idea with some of his colleagues and they agreed a sale to me would ensure AmigaWorld's long term future. We agreed a price and the deal was done.
We will post an official news item but I wanted to personally thank David for creating and supporting of AmigaWorld and his commitment to the Amiga scenes over the years.

I have no problem with the X1000 performance. I know people who spend near than the cost of an X1000 in a year just on beverages for themselves for social consumption and frivolous cell phone usage .

HaHa... clever... I get it. Some would say that you might as well throw the whole post 1994 Amiga endeavor down a black hole! I guess what I mean by "target" is not only the products but the Amiga community too. It's gotta be tough trying to please the Amiga crowd in general, keep a business going that you believe in, keep your cash flow going, after investing so much time, resources and money. Just sayin......... been there, done that.Last edited by Amiga4000 on 26-Oct-2014 at 04:42 PM. Last edited by Amiga4000 on 26-Oct-2014 at 04:37 PM.

ah yes throwing stones when one lives in a glass house.
Glad you're happy with your 8 bits as I've got a few of my own I also enjoy and thank goodness Amiga is beyond any help 'you' can give it since where would we be today without 'your' help. _________________ ____________________________ c64-2sids, A1000, A1200T-060@50(finally working!),A4000-CSMKIII ! It was an impressive technical achievement on both systems. I'd forgotten about the speccy version! Ah hell I might have to go digging in the loft now; emulation just doesn't cut it.
First time I saw it was on the Atari ST. Man, it was like nothing else. I think actually it's what prompted the family to buy one. Luckily we decided on an amiga at the last minute. :)
@trevor
So what exactly are your plans for aw.net? I'm assuming its more then just paying for the hosting costs? _________________ Blog |

the 128MB barrier could be removed easily but Tony said that software would not use more than that knowing you can't have more in reality. This can be patched though. PPC emulation would improve over time no doubt about that and if you like OS4 under emulation it'll easier to move to the real thing.
