all.
cirrus vga confirmed by me is working .
Amigaos need on thread ripper just 5 seconds to boot from the install cdrom is really much more faster than what was my x5000/40 in booting is impressive.
Now i will try to install all and make some benchmarks this last git is great. Thanks Zoltan and all who make it possible.

@tlosm

I think the kickstart modules are read in PIO mode on the real hardware, DMA should be activated when drivers are loaded.

@pavlor

wouldnt expect too much. im using sam in qemu all the time here to test aros ppc compiles, also heavier stuff like webkit browsers, and while its responsive, cpu intensive tasks are very sluggish.

edit: it may also have to do with the emulated network hardware, but still..

yes you need to wait because after installing i dont have Os4 running because issue with ramlib.
dsi crash because stack error. but os4 is fast on ripper. i can use emulated gpu with gui effects enabled and isnt slow like is fs-uae. i will try a way for have something running for have a benchmark im curious too.

plus there is issue with ram. look like the machine cand have up of 1 Gb of ram. reall sam 460 have 2 gb working.

good thing is it starts now pretty quick really, that makes debugging a bit more convenient. but performance is still the same.

@tlosm

What are you using to attach a disk image to Qemu? I did this:

qemu-img create -f qcow2 sam460.img 120G

and then attached it to the VM with:

-drive file=sam460.img,format=qcow2,id=disk -device ide-hd,drive=disk,bus=ide.0

but whatever kind of partitioning I do, when I save Media Toolbox and reboot, no partitions appear in the Format tool, even though Media Toolbox can still see them (they're all set with Automount).

@cmsj

Dont make to big diskimage try with a smaller one first i did a 10G .
my disk was made like this

qemu-img create sam460.img 10G .

and attached like this -drive file=sam460.img,format=raw,id=disk -device ide-hd,drive=disk,bus=ide.0

but i have to test different disk image format because probably the raw can be what made AmigaOS crashing in ramlib. let me test and report.

@tlosm

I switched to a raw image and I noticed that the BIOS screen now reports the correct capacity of the drive.

I also noticed that the partitions do appear if I use the normal partition type instead of SFS, so that may have been my fault (although why they don't appear just because the type is SFS\02, I don't know).

So, I now have 4.1 installed on a RAW image, but Grim Reaper reports on boot that IPrefs has an 80000004 guru.

Progress at least :D

@cmsj

What about just normal SFS or SFS1? SFS2 is 64-bit SFS so more complicated.

It doesn't seem to work here: display is stuck with "Guest has not initialized the display (yet).".

Not sure this is related, but I can see that in the terminal:

> (qemu-system-ppc.exe:9644): Gtk-WARNING **: Could not load a pixbuf from /org/gtk/libgtk/theme/Adwaita/assets/bullet-symbolic.svg.
This may indicate that pixbuf loaders or the mime database could not be found.

With the same command line, it starts on Linux & macOS.

@tlosm

This afternoon i installed the latest qemu on Windows and got this error:
View Picture

By the way: I successfully compiled the 3.0 qemu on my Mac (macOS Mojave developer beta 3), and was able to install AmigaOS 4.1 FE on a 10GB hardisk-image. What options do i have to choose in Terminal to activate networking? And how can i activate the CLGD in Terminal and AOS? I have both operating systems: Classic and Sam460 AOS 4.1 FE. Maybe you can help

Last words: Thanks for your hard work, developers! Having a Sam460ex emulated on my Mac makes me smile

@retro

No. SAM460 requires drivers available only with the SAM460 version of OS4.

Note WinUAE OS4 experience is now superior to plain QEMU/SAM460 emulation (faster and more compatible GFX, more stable etc.), better to stay with what you have than waste your time with still rather experimental QEMU emulation.
