| The 4000 Rev B replica is nearing completion!!! This is it!!!!! The final RC1 schematics for review just came in and I have posted it to the Github. This is it guys and gals!!! Its time to look over this and tell me what you think. This is not for requests to add features or change things that are working, its for review of anything that shouldnt be here only. Once I get a good feeling things are good to go I will tell the company doing this to move on and continue with the final layout of the board. This is about done!!!!! The file is named with RC1. You can also download a PDF version for those not wanting to install the FREE Mentor Graphics PADS viewer. https://github.com/Acill/A4000RevB/tree/master/Schematics _________________ I do motherboard recaps and other enhancement/upgrades! Thanks Acill but I feel I have enough with my A500 with an ACA500 and ACA 030 accelerator.
Good to see this releases on the Amiga as well _________________ AMIGA 500 1.5 MB ACA500/ACA1232 accelerators AMIGA 500 German CD32 unexpanded Amiga 1200 Tower on AmigaKit since years AMIGA 1300 030/50 Mhz/32 MB WB 3.9 with lots of games&demos AMIGA ONE XE G3 PPC 800 Mhz/1 GB RAM/RADEON 9250 128 MB/SATA CONTROLLER |

This looks interesting.
Do you have a ball park figure for the cost of the motherboard?

I did not download the free PADS viewer to look at the schematics, and I have no prior knowledge about this project, so can you tell all of us "uninformed, but interested" users, is this project trying to create an exact 1:1 replica of the last version of the A4000D motherboard, or have some things been added (or deleted) to/from the original design? No need to mention a redesign for smaller modern replacement parts, if they do NOT add or omit any features of the original A4000D.
I'm guessing that the RAM might be designed differently, to permit the use of more modern, and currently available chip parts, and if possible, faster RAM access. I would still expect to see an old IDE connector, but perhaps the team designing this board has also added a SD-Card slot, and hopefully, a few USB connections, with a license for Poseiden stack, or some other USB controller stack that is just as good, or better.
If you could summarize the goals of the project, and confirm is any new features have been added to this new A4000D motherboard, it would be appreciated. (or if there is a site I can find all of this info, just provide the link, as I don't think I saw any answers to my questions on the web page you did provide a link to). |

+1
The old HW needs some updates. USB would be nice as would fast Ethernet. A propper 16550 buffered serial or better would be fantastic as the CIA polling is too slow for anything over 57600 Same with a propper buffered SATA interface. Memory access/increase would also be fantastic.
Just saying. If you're going to re-make the board, why not improve some of it's shortfalls.
