Aaron's and Jamie's speech was interesting and positive for sure.

And Trevors one too. Btw, when someone at end ask him about what he think about aos4.2, i feel his pain and how polite and accurate he trying to answer about :)

From broadcast it seems about 50-70 persons in whole ? Not a lot, but not that low either (for amiga in 2018), kind of cool :)

Synopsis of the A1222: It currently supports the latest RadeonHD and RadeonRX drivers, Warp3D Nova, and Warp3D-SI. The Ethernet drivers are done (two of them; one A-EON and the other AOTL), and firmware is updated to X5000 level. Several motherboard components had to be replaced because the originals have become obsolete. Waiting on the Audio driver and final OS 4.1 ISO. It should ship Q1 2019.

Jamie said in his presentation that updates should come fast since the project is fully funded by AOTL. So you weren't wrong.

@bison

Thanks for confirming that there is abolutely nothing new regarding A1222 at this point.

Was there anything really new announced ? (That would not be vaporware I mean).

Were the Polaris and Radeon V3 drivers (you know, those that are finished since august) announced as a big news ?

@K-L

I only watch speeches of Arron+Jamie, Trevor, Hans, Jamie and in general there is no announcements of kind "OMG SOON OMG", and that good, as we have enough of it for sure. Probably i miss someone as at Russia it was nigth and go to sleep, but :

Trevor says that he know it take long for Tabor, he know all issues, but things going as they going. Audio driver still not done , and they waiting for final aos4.iso for tabor from hyperion (from another side, i read on os4welt, that Costel says everything is ready already, and they wait something from aeon instead. So kind of bad communication seems there). Sure it will be done, and Trevor hope january or q1 of 2019, but for sure it will be something end of 2019, or 2020 :))

Also when one ask him about LibreOffice, he explain that it take so long , because there was something not presenting in os4 itself which needs to be done before libre can works fully (i have hands on some first beta, they suck), and it was libre4 or something, then, ppls outside of amiga works making android port of libre5 , which version is much easer to port to os4, and if i understand right, right before he going at show, he recieve from Hans some another beta version of that libre5-from-android-port.

But to say truth, Libre will be never bug free and stable enough. As it will need support, bug fixing, time time time, and it still will be kind of alien. Better spend time and money to native word processors , but that just my imho.

He also talk about enhancer , and drivers about which you ask, that they are ready and all soon will be out, there will be separate pack with drivers only, but you know all that already. There wasn't phanfares about if you mean that :) He just said that as said, without screaming and dancing, and that good too. Less bananas but more work instead much better.

Then Hans talked about his progress on graphics area for latest 10 years, and his future plans its to make hardware video decoding (and later encoding), and GART support for perfomance rise + working more on shaders. In other words, normal continued work, instead of "OMG ! SOON THERE WILL BE GART !! PERFOMANCE !!! TECHNOLOG !!!" , as it was done before.

Then Jamie's speech was about his ADV suite, but as i remember its already 3-4-5 years of the same "i works on it, it will be cool". But time fly, and it kind of need to be done already :) I.e. nothing new there too, only that work continued.

@kas1e

Yes, an Amigawriter or Wordworth with Libre file support would make much more sense. Just like Timberwolf, it is large and hard to maintain the code.
When I want Libre I just download it on my x86.

On a German forum there is the news that A-eon required the rights of MediaToolbox from OS4.1

Someone know which audiochip is on the Tabor ?

@All
Rewatched briefly whole yesterday's broadcast, and seems i missed only interview with Daniel (ogles2,tower57 and stuff), but sadly only voice of man who ask questions can be heard, Daniels answers cant be heard sadly.

But should to say whole broadcasting done good enough. All in sync, looks fine, etc.

Btw, what i forget from yesterdays Jamies speech, is some details he bring about ADV which i find interesting : he had to create new text editor as well (editor showed in video, and looks like kind of mix between codepad which didnt released but betatesters have hands on, and few yeras ago released storm5ed). It had all that folding/unfolding of blocks, syntax highlighting and stuff. And it also based on richeditor.gadget, which done by Xeron years ago (peter gordon, who do pftp). That gadget also used by codebench, codepad, etc. As i understand, Jamie say that this gadget save him months of work.

He also talk about debugging features, and that he use alfkill's db101 debugger, but i not so understand if he will trying to use db101 code to made debugger for ADV, but what i understand not much work done on debugger side at moment.

the problems as it seems remains always the same. huge prestige projects with questionable usability. unfortunately these projects are hardly convincing for anyone outside the audience on this and few other forums, or rather the perception of progress in these areas is rather discouraging over the years.

@wawa

Not only that.

The development of the network driver and the audio takes so long on a Tabor with standard industry parts, when it is ready the Tabor is so many years old that the design must be done again because the parts of the machine are becoming expensive or are not available anymore.
