Is there an Amiga Expert in the house?

How many different keyboard layouts did the A600 have?

I have one that is probably UK and the other Spanish.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

@thread

I found out on A.org what I need is to use the American setting and buy some key caps for U.S. key board or use the U.K. setting.

I will need get new springs, caps, and plungers for the UK keyboard and key caps for the Spanish keyboard.

Thanks.

Now I will have to assume that Amiga computers will boot into the English Language.

I have not done much with Locale over the years.

There is a motive force that has pushed me away from the Amiga. Hopefully these two little machines will give me some tension release.

@Trekiej

They boot into the setting set in locale (at least on WB 3.x+).

You only have to set the language and keymap settings, save and you are good to go.

I am curios about how many different countries the Amiga was shipped.
Converting the keys to US or UK does not seem to be that difficult.

I wish I could convert to the mechanical keys that are best for typing.

@Trekiej

Most keyboard layouts on the Amiga were the same (exceptions being the American ANSI format where the return key was thin like a shift key instead of an inverted L found on European keyboards).

The keycaps vary based on the additional characters that a language may have used. This was all controlled in the input keymap settings.

I recall the A500 manual had a selection of keymaps that were typically supported. I just had a quick look through my 3.0 WB manual and it didn't show this though.

Common layouts would have been for UK, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Netherlands, America.

I think I read that switching the keys does not always work because they do not align on some keys. I do not know if this is true.

A complete set of new caps would be awesome.

I am waiting on my power supply. It should be in the mail soon.

edit: Outside of doing a repair to the UK keyboard, I may just leave them the way they are. Spanish keymap, English language. But that can change.

Cheers.
