The new Checkmate 1500 MIni enables compact and powerful PC, Raspberry Pi and FPGA based desktop Amiga compatible computer builds.

Checkmate A1500 Mini from iMica Ltd

Imagine a brand new, Commodore Amiga 3000 inspired desktop computer case sitting on your desk today, that's what we want to bring to you again.

Following on from the successful launch of the Checkmate 1500 Plus case Kickstarter in 2019 we wanted to add a smaller and more compact case to the range.

Click for the Original Checkmate 1500 Plus Kickstarter
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/checkmate1500mini/amiga-3000-inspired-modular-amiga-pc-desktop-compu

Backing this campaign will enable us to make the high quality matching Black and Oyster White front panels instead of the 3D printed main panels at the moment.

You will notice this campaign is for a lower amount than the last but that is due to a number of parts being interchangable between the Mini and the Plus cases. This reduces our Mold costs and so we can pass that on by needing less funding and speeding development to you.

With your support we can bring this more compact version to you.

More details soon at http://www.checkmate1500plus.com

The 1500 Plus case is suitable for the Sam460 but you need to use low profile cards and the appropriate back panel.

Low profile cards is fine. I need a back panel though, mine didn't come with one.

The panels still seem to available to buy through the site. I was able to add one to the to the shopping cart on my login. It may be worth emailing Steve to see if he'll let you exchange the one that came with your case for the panel with vertical slots.

Hi, you need to contact AEON for the back panel.

As for MicroATX, as Rob said, just buy the Plus case.

I don't think AEON can help... and ACube aren't replying to any emails.

I love the look and idea, but I feel like it might still be too large for my taste. What are the exact dimension going to be?

Watched the YouTube launch excitedly expecting to buy two, one for a pi4 and one for a vampire, but I'm sorry to say I won't be backing, because they're still way too big. I was expecting something Mac mini sized which would be perfect - the trend now is very much towards small, clutter free, single board computing. I don't really see what role these 'mini' cases that are not at all mini fill, that isn't filed already by your existing case. Come back next year with a real mini please.

They're over 30x30cm so still enormous.

You wouldn't be able to put a Mini-ITX motherboard in a much smaller case. You need to consider as many options as possible.

@WolfpackN64

I have a MiniITX case here that is 195 x 187 x 45mm which is less than 2/3 the size of these 'minis'. Akasa Cypher, look it up.

I'm just saying I think they've misjudged which way the wind is blowing. These are way too big to use for a Vampire or Pi or FPGAmiga. They're not differentiated enough from the previous product either. Anyone who needs internal PSU, big GPU etc is better off with the full size case.

Looking at the pictures, it appears it's just big enough for a Mini-ITX motherboard next to an SFX power supply, with an optical drive in front. The "Plus" case was nice if you wanted to re-case an existing Amiga, but for PC builds, FPGA and RPi4, this is much better.

People who get paid in advance to deliver interviews they then don't actually deliver.

I agree 100%. Obviously Stephen has a market because his Kickstarters have been successful, but it's definitely not for me. I don't see this as substantially different from the last offering.

This is the perfect size:
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0087TS1S4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1&fpw=alm

Make something that size or close and I'd be interested. I don't see the need for an optical drive and internal power supply for a Raspberry Pi, FPGA board, etc.

Hi Guys

I have no interest in an Mac Mini size device as I am trying to create something that looks and feels like an Amiga 3000 desktop style case. Not a non descript pizza box.

For the record I did release something that size about 8 years ago and I sold 15

Thanks for looking though.

Doesn't have to be full size to pay homage to the 3000. The look of a 3000 would lend itself really well to a smaller, more proper Mini-ITX case.

Of course it would be a waste of time to create yet another plain Mini-ITX case. But why not one that appeals to Amiga fans?

8 years ago the market was very different, the Raspberry Pi/Amiga emulation & FPGA boards have changed the market.
