@thread

Please refer to my prior posts in this and older threads for old history, but we have new developments...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H8GPAbRXk4&ab_channel=MyRetroComputerLtd

Then the letter refernced in the video from the real owner (from manager Eugene Van OS) was posted:

https://www.facebook.com/myretrocomputer/photos/a.2743485542566513/3195330437382019

Finally, Commodore Italy V2 (Commodore Engineering of the website Commodore Inc.) removed their blog post about Sean's product being fake. They apologized for their action as mentioned both in the video comment section and also referenced in the 2nd video link below.

2 days after the first video was posted, Sean updates the situation and offers thanks to those who assisted him...including David Pleasance:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pU5BVd4wU0&ab_channel=MyRetroComputerLtd

Apparently kickstarter did nothing but make matters worse throughout this drama, a point that Sean clearly illustrates.

Long story short "The Kickstarter is Back up!
This cements the legality of what we are doing!"

Hopefully this puts an end to those who keep saying C= ownership is confusing. It is not.
Anyone who has bothered to read all the documentation beginning with the court awarding the first secured creditors should know this.

btw-the comments in the first video give you a strong sense of how many entities were involved in this latest mess and this is perhaps a positive sign that so many were willing to assist in achieving a resolution.

The show?

You mean this?

https://itch.io/jam/commodore-jam-generation

If so, they already posted several times on AW about this.

Not only. I think the flyer is being sent / given to anyone who participates at Computer / Retro / Commodore shows. It seems to be addressed specifically to US audience.

They claim to be:

Quote:
... as the sole custodian of the Commodore logo and name.

@Nonefornow

If you read the Atariage thread, you know they spoke to me about issuing perhaps some paperwork at AmiWest, so that kinda fits.
I haven't heard anything new on this.
At the time they expressed interest in acquiring an old IP and reviving it for the modern age.
Amiga was mentioned at that time. They seem to understand that would not be a good idea at this time.
The rep was also supposedly involved in "after market" sales with Intellivision as well.

Frankly I am not sure all of those involved are on the same page as far as a unified goal goes. Perhaps they are just probing in multiple places in order find an avenue to pursue.

They uploaded this a couple of days ago:

ok, so there's The Commodore Engineering SRL, which is the Commodore CBM people:
https://www.zoominfo.com/c/the-commodore-engineering-srl/468458493
Which is indicated absolutely here:
https://www.zoominfo.com/p/Carlo-Scattolini/3541555403
Of course this is somewhat similar sounding to "Commodore Engineering" mentioned above.

So in referring to the various Commodores in the future with the proper name each company prefers (given they all use multiple names) it might be helpful if a rep from these companies indicate how they wish to be referred to.

(not holding my breath)

The chicken lips are unknown, way behind Atari's iconic splash logo for T-Shirts and mugs! Commodore is a worthless brand now. The last time it had ANY relevance was when it was used for Gaming PC Cases but that was over a decade ago!

RIP Commodore, long Iive the Amiga!

Hello, I don't think ZoomInfo's data are accurate. Commodore Engineering can't be a Srl (italian "limited liality company") and have headquarters outside of Italy. Moreover, Carlo Scattolini is AFAIK the CEO of Commodore Business Machines Srl, located in Ponti Sul Mincio in Italy.

On the contrary, Commodore Engineering / Industries is held by Luigi Simonetti in Rome and, to clarify things, it is in no way connected to Canigiani's and Scattolini's CBM.

@paolone

Thank you as always for your respectful response.

I'd just like to pick one name for each company when reporting what I believe might be of interest.
Unless there is objection I'd use "Commodore-CBM" for Massimo/Carlo's group.

Would they prefer anything different? I'm not trying to be flippant, but with all the variants over the years, including the principals I'm inclined to ask.

btw-I assume you (and all the Commodore companies) have viewed and read last year's story:
https://www.nostalgianerd.com/commodore-heist/

I can understand how controversy and drama such as the above is popular, but it's possible the history prior to these current affairs is necessary in order to provide a firmer understanding of ownership.
Honestly, when I offer public information and a principle (not you) responds that he never knew this information, I start to believe we have a serious lack of clarity and sharing of facts between all parties.

Perhaps public information is being digested but not understood as to meaning?

It's fine for me. At least this should avoid confusion.

Yes, I read as many others did. And yes, this trademark war will probably go on for many years to come. Or it will end some way, I can't predict. But trademarks regulations are a quite complex matter you know, and sometimes who 'seems' to own something, really doesn't.

Some days ago I saw Simonetti's miserable trial to stop My Retrocomputing's Kickstarter campaign, followed by the famous "I am writing here I am the owner so I am the owner" lecter from Van Os everyone believed to.

But, well, I think reality is a little more complex.

Yep. And we both remember the overturn after appeal, not to mention debate over what classes definitions really indicate.
I wonder at times whether some people have employed actual IP attorneys or whether they are just getting advice from a more generic source that tells them what they want to hear. Oh well...

Take care,

Out of curiosity, where you contacted by Mr. Simonetti or someone from his group?
Or have you decided what name to pick?

They seem to be using Commodore Industries, Commodore Inc., and Commodore Engineering interchangeably.

Also I noted that the spelling of the different names is variable.

I wouldn't call a forum discussion being contacted, but here were the 2 threads:

AmiWest 2021: October 16th and 17th

A new Amiga&c64 game jam is coming

"interesting article, that I did not know.", which is why I made the comment above about not everyone having the same information...certainly not at the same time.

and "The jam will focus mostly on Amiga because one additional goal is to find one IP worth to be developed further in a modern platform release" which is why I made the other comment above about probing, since this indicated some uncertainty to me as to company direction.

Clear?

Name for his group is obviously "Commodore Engineering" since that is the submitter name for the post made on AW about the Jam.

C64x and Sean getting some coverage from major ububer:

The report avoids the controversies and just reports on the product itself.

Wow! No Commodore War updates since July 2022? Shame on me.

At the end of August KSR files for the Commodore trademark:
Source

Then the company that was to have a presentation at AmiWest and never followed through:
Source
Note this is the same group that had the conflict over the Commodore trademark with MyRetroComputer mentioned above.
They use "inc" in url, and 3 other names at bottom of page each of which include the word "Commodore" of course. "Sinapsy" "Industries"

I'm sorry, but this is beyond belief given all the different "Commodore" names they use but...
They now file a trademark objection against KSR in November:
Source
You can confirm this is C=Engineering etc etc etc by clicking "opponent", which shows the company and the same personal name.

Continuing on....they file objection on the basis of "confusion". So...some company using many Commodore name variations says someone else has caused confusion.
If you are truly out to injure your brain, you can also research KSR and why they filed for "Commodore" as well.

If any of this is news, I'm sure only CBM and/or Commodore Corp can digest it or even cares

@Trevor/David and the books
Save space for a volume 4 (evil grin)

Additional note: KSR filed for another Commodore trademark 2 days ago. If you understand the process there is no objection yet because you can't object before the publishing stage of the process. But I guarantee another objection if they get that far.

The first few seasons of Commodore War were interesting, but these last few seasons were very meh. They must’ve changed the writing staff because there’s a lot less drama and a lot more of basic airing of dirty laundry. Maybe it appeals more to a Millennial/Gen-Z audience.

I’m currently watching ChatGPT SVU. First season is already heating things up.

Yep. They thought since adding more claimants as being the real Commodore worked for years, that simply adding 2 more this past season would double the interest in the "show". meh.
