| So came across this little project today, I seen something like this before that turns modern websites into basically a image to allow old computers to access them.
Was surprise however even video/youtube can kinda work with this!
This is what the project says... "A web "proxy" server that enables browsing the modern web on historical browsers. It works by rendering the browser viewport into images, which are then shown by a JavaScript application running on the client browser."
https://github.com/ttalvitie/browservice/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MjZdKtv9ak
So basically do you think this could work on Amiga too? _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |

Nice find, thanks for sharing!
There is also this page that describes two methods to browse modern Web pages on retro-computers: - WRP - Web Rendering Proxy - Squid The page introduces a new method called CryptoAncienne.
I've tried WRP between my Amiga 1200/60 and my RPI and its works quite well although it maybe bit quite slow sometimes and requires some fine-tuning of the image size, depth, and type...
Cheers! _________________ Tygre Scientific Progress Goes Boing! |

It gave it a quick try to see if its working on my X5000 using Odyssey
First impression is nice..
Made a video so you can see it running.

I know WRP works quite well - Kolla pointed me to that one some time ago but it's good to see there are others. _________________ Fred Booth ======================================== A500, A600, A1200 c/w Mediator and 030 AmigaOne and OS4.1 Mac LCII, G4 Powermac running OSX + Amigakit and MorphOS 3.0 Dell Mini 10 Netbook running IcAros and AmigaForever+Amikit+AmigaSys 2006 Macb |
