@all

Given the threads and conversations in irc continue to raise this same question, which has yet to be answered...

I'll ask one last time on behalf of the users of X5000:

Where/how does one obtain current uboot?

Source indicating no response in threads, mail, or phone

and again today here

At this point any response from those in charge would suffice.

@number6

When i was a not proud user of X5000 machine the uboot was mantained by Perez and at that time he was sharing a directory with all uboot versions for it on his web site.

Today i dont know , and i dont know if there is a new uboot after 2017.
Ciao
Luigi

Uboot and its updates are provided upon request by amigakit to those who have purchased X5000, personally I think amigakit or A-Eon should provide easier support for X5000 users.
For example, in my opinion, even amigastore is not very accessible and usable due to the lack of a modern browser (serious problems with payment methods with paypal, etc.).

After 20 years of cataloging website I'm one not to give up on 'dead sites' or links that easily. Try these links. The page(s) state the files are from 3 Dec 2017. Don't know if this what you really need or not but at least the files are there. Hope this helps!

AmigaOne X5000 Update Uboot (http://wiki.amiga.org/)

or the direct links to the files
File:UpdateUBoot.zip
File:SDVersion.zip
File:RawWrite.zip

and if somehow they disappear in the next day or so here's a
temp copy of the files on AmigaSource.com

@AmigaSource

Thank you for your effort.

I made the initial posting after noticing from websites and irc conversations that people were using "at least" 3 different versions ranging from 2016-2017-2018.
I did not see how any testing results would make much sense given this, so I brought this to public attention.

As was stated on both Amigans.net and OS4welt in the time since you posted your links:
Your files do not contain the firmware, just the tools. Therefore the question remains valid, imo.

If anyone manages to find it, it would be nice to know does the archive have GPL license on it or has it been in true Amiga tradions forgotten.

You're welcome. At least we now again have access to the tools.

And yes your original premise still stands. We are again no closer to easy access to the firmware. I was going to restate the obvious and rant about situation but I'll just ask this one question.

After all these years is 'how in the world can this be so hard to sell and support a damn product?

Anyway.. I hope you're able to find them somewhere.

Maybe the firmware went to the same place where the X5000’s went?

@TRIPOS

Actually the absence of X5000 systems, any version of AmigaOS, or any product from Hyperion in the "Manufacturer" section....is all older news.

New Sam460cr production run

Bassano del Grappa, Italy - 24 Mar, 2020

We would like to thank all our customers for their incredible support and overwhelming response to the availability of the new Sam460cr batch. They went out of stock in no time at all.

We are planning a new, bigger, production run but we need your help now! Production will be available on pre-order, asking just a small fee that will be discounted from the final price, so if you are interested, please write us now at info@acube-systems.com to place your order or request additional information.

Please note that we will sell just the board, not full systems.

All customers who already placed their order and were unlucky with the first batch will be contacted by us for confirmation. Please be patient because we really got many emails, but rest assured that we will reply to everyone!"

@NutsAboutAmiga

AmigaKit
“No delivery date or availability confirmed”

Wow

Good news: They sold their stock.

Bad news: No high end AmigaOS hardware option... again!

Possible good news: Maybe they’ll now launch the X5000/40?

Crazy times with the low end being catered for by A1222 Plus AND Sam 460CR that the high end option dries up!

As with the firmware for the pioneering AmigaOne, the contents of the Flash ROM consist of several independent modules:

1. U-Boot
2. AmigaBoot
3. The Animation

The three modules are supplied normally as a single 96 MB binary, although each component can be updated and replaced independently of the others.

The U-Boot code has been worked on by several authors over the years, each with a separate set of requirements. The current version (and the collection of the components) is maintained by the Exec-SG team.

Only the U-Boot code is GPL, the other components are proprietary. I have personally had some input to AmigaBoot over the years. The animation code draws the splash screen and the spinning Boing Ball.

I don't know what are the ownerships/copyrights etc of the package. I shall ask.

A word of warning from the original developer about that last one though, at least if you want to be able to use other OS’s on your machine as well:

It’s quite obvious that it is the misuse (or risk of misuse) of proprietary IP without permission that has pulled all these products from market currently, not that they were “sold out” or anything such. Everything containing the trademarks (like “Amiga” wordmark, Boing ball, etc) which use was “granted” by Hyperion is now gone. AmigaOne systems, firmwares containing the word Amiga and boing balls, Kickstart rom chips and OS distributions etc.

Because they have no more stock available

Maybe you’re thinking of the Rhod Gilbert Sketch where the British Rail dining cart attendant claims that he can’t sell Rhod the last egg and cress sandwich because it’s the display sandwich and if they sold it people wouldn’t know they sold egg and cress sandwiches, which they don’t because they’re refusing to sell the last egg and cress sandwich!

... so yes; there may be one X5000 left at AmigaKit HQ which is there as a ‘display’ model to prove that they still sell AmigaOne machines (which they don’t)!

A hint: Every product that had any kind of Amiga branding (the ”Amiga” word-mark, a boing-ball, whatever) that was ”granted” by *Hyperion*, has been withdrawn from market. My guess is that you won’t see any Hyperion affiliated “Amiga One” or “Amiga OS” anytime soon, and that has nothing to do with any stock of goods in any warehouse that might (or might not) be there.

I call BS on you as AmigaOS 3.1.4 is STILL available! Where do you get your information from? If Hyperion has an injunction against them from the court case and AmigaKit and all Amiga resellers can't carry AmigaOne/AmigaOS branded products then you should have issued a news post to the front page! If you are spreading rumours then please desist!

Amiga Store EU - AmigaOS 3.1.4
