@all

Extremely well researched and detailed video (long) from the other day:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvLFEh7V18A&t=2772s&ab_channel=KarlJobst

I see the opposition has issued a response:
Heritage Auctions Responds To Allegations Of "Fraud And Deception In The Retro Video Game Market"

I get the sense this could be a big story.

Basically...more coming.

@number6

what a joke it's always been buyer beware in every single type of collecting market (hobby)! Any seller can ask any amount of money for his/her item BUT that doesn't mean they will get it..this type of stupidity has been happening on EBay for decades..."RARE, one of a kind, graded by God himself, 11/10 etc etc

@klx300r

So, you didn't watch the video or read anything about the topic at hand then?
This has *nothing* to do with inflated ebay, etc prices.
Its about ACTUAL fraud. Organised between a few well established entities.

I'm more curious as to why *this* particular video went viral.
This has all been public knowledge for a long time.
The auction house has been caught multiple times inflating prices with fake bids going back a few years.

@fishy_fis

True regarding basic knowledge of this over the years.
I've watched quite a few videos from people who own large collections and therefore have a vested interest. You could say they offer a different view.

However, there seem so far to be 2 specific points that have surprised even people with a vested interest in keeping prices high...

(1)The same people being involved in grading/auctioning/and as both seller and buyer.

(2)The history of the same people from the last time they were identified doing something similar and the monetary consequences to them for that actiivity.

btw-there is a flood of information on this now. this is not going away.

note: Update links to newer information

And hours ago another posting on the author's (Jobst) twitter from Seth:
Quote:
Video Game Grading House WATA Told the New York Times That Its Employees Can't Sell WATA-Graded Games Due to Conflicts of Interest. So Why Did One of Its SEC-Listed Co-Founders Just Sell Me Three?

the actual article about the above from just hours ago

Also mentioned is a followup video on the way from Karl.

Yes I did & whether a 'well known entity' or a lone idiot selling online I stand by my post above. When I know what I'm taking about on my hobbies I don't give a rats arse about anyone or company trying to tell me about what something is worth!

@klx300r

Just a few updates, since it's been so long...

the Karl Jobst update from December

and back to now:

the lawsuit

btw-the Seth Abramson mentioned is also interested in nostalgia video consoles.
example
He also wrote about Intellivision and their efforts to enter the console market again.
He's just another with apparently no knowledge of TheA500 Mini.
