Looks like it's down for maintenance. I'm not sure why they moved off vBulletin. That forum software is not perfect but it's better than most. I think they wanted to be on something that was free, but I'm only speculating. _________________ Sent from my Quantum Computer. |

| We are just moving the server to faster hardware with more memory. Most of the work has been done: Amiga.org is more than forums: the Amiga Developer site has been migrated along with Bug Report tool and the Wiki has migrated.
We are in the process of optimising the forum and updating the software to a more current version.
This investment in the more powerful server will enhance the user experience going forward.

Will you at long last make sure to have all sites fully functional over https, using proper valid certificate(s) and monitor them and replace them in good time before they expire? Especially forum and portals and whatnot that require login! _________________ B5D6A1D019D5D45BCC56F4782AC220D8B3E2A6CC |

FYI, moving to different forum software broke many of the legacy links. When someone searches Google for Amiga information if the link is on legacy Amiga.org it may not work. _________________ Sent from my Quantum Computer. |

That is the intention. We work on AMIGA.org, the forums and sub-sites largely on a volunteer basis, so it gets pockets of maintenance during our free-time.

You are correct. I believe this is the the third different forum software change that has occurred during it's history. We have put in place some server redirect rules to catch some of the simpler links from the old forum software.Last edited by amigakit on 23-Sep-2022 at 04:07 PM.

When Wayne ultimately migrated from xoops to vbulletin, we wrote custom migration scripts that replaced all links to content within the old xoops forum and modules to their replacements. This was considered an important step for the preservation of the site. Some redirection was in place too, but making sure it issues "moved permanently" so they Google and other crawlers would get the hint. Last edited by Karlos on 24-Sep-2022 at 01:44 PM.
